JD Power Syndicated Studies are independent, unbiased voice of the customer research. By utilizing best-in-class scientific methods and analytics, our self-funded studies create comprehensive intelligence on customer interactions and competitive benchmarking.
Thousands of companies worldwide trust JD Power as a "measuring stick" on their performance against their peers and how customers perceive their brand.
JD Power surveys millions of individuals each year to conduct research globally. We use various ways to research customer interactions, including email, mail, phone, and social media. Individuals surveyed are sourced independently by JD Power and vetted through a rigorous validation process.
We set minimum brand coverage requirements within defined markets, so we deliver insights that accurately reflect the areas we measure. Brands profiled in the JD Power syndicated studies make up a minimum of 67% of the industry marketplace and include at least four competing brands. A minimum of 100 respondents per brand must be collected for a brand to be profiled.
Depending on the industry, JD Power may categorize companies by region or other experience-relevant segments. Our approach provides more actionable insights for businesses and consumers. For example, a national company may perform better in one geographic area versus another.
Composite index are used as it increases the validity and reliability of the data in return, making it more actionable. A composite index is a group of numbered scores that are averaged together to provide an overall view of a specific sector or industry.
These composite indices yield greater our methods to maximize the insights acquired from each sample and efficiently brand-level detail than single-item questions or other less rigorous measures. We’ve engineered y generate enormous quantities of high-quality, predictive information.
There is a diminishing benefit as sample sizes increase. At a sample size of 100, sampling error starts to flatten. Going beyond 300 provides little benefit to precision while cost increases exponentially.
The validity, reliability, and actionability of our approach has been applauded for more than 50 years.
JD Power collects feedback from verified consumers who have first-hand experience with evaluated companies and products to provide an accurate picture of the markets we measure.
To capture the “right data, from the right people at the right time. " We use a three-pronged approach to check the validity of respondent's surveys are completed during the panel registration, in-survey questions and throughout other key research checkpoints.
JD Power uses a composite index. A composite index is essentially a group of numbered scores that are averaged together to provide an overall view of a specific sector or industry. This increases the validity and reliability of the data in return, making it more actionable.
When you use a composite index, less sample is needed because the measurement is more reliable and valid. Especially in academic research. With a 100 minimum sample size per brand, JD Power provides an incredible source of truth for our study benchmark and a feasible way for consumers and brands to identify best-in-class performance.
