In an automotive landscape that has elevated SUVs to the top of the premium-brand sales charts, the 2025 BMW 3 Series and the 2025 Mercedes-Benz C-Class cut across the grain. Designed to emphasize all-around performance with four-door practicality, these sedans demonstrate that a five-passenger vehicle doesn't have to be tall to be practical and can still be fun to drive.
For years, the BMW 3 Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class have been (figuratively) colliding as prime examples of what the motoring public has come to know as European sport sedans. While this class has evolved over the years, driving enjoyment is one of their key calling cards. These days, they supplement Old School acceleration and handling virtues with advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), cutting-edge connectivity, and fuel-efficient mild-hybrid powertrains.
Regarding comfort, both sedans feature automatic climate control, the availability of heated and ventilated seats, dramatic interior lighting, and premium audio systems that put concert-hall sound into each car’s cabin.
After a deep dive into each vehicle's spec sheet, it’s evident that the BMW 3 Series and the Mercedes-Benz C-Class have numerous similarities. That said, their differences, some subtle and some less so, could make a difference for you. Here is a detailed comparison of the 2025 BMW 3 Series and the 2025 Mercedes-Benz C-Class.

2025 BMW 3 Series
The 2025 BMW 3 Series sedan has three versions: 330i, M340i, and the high-performance M3. Rear-wheel drive (RWD) comes standard, with all-wheel drive (AWD) as an option for most versions. The lineup starts with the 330i at a base price of $45,950, while the range-topping M3 Competition xDrive Sedan, featuring a turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine and AWD, begins at $86,000.
BMW offers 2025 3 Series buyers four years of complimentary roadside assistance and a free scheduled maintenance plan covering three years or 36,000 miles. The sedan's BMW Connected Package Professional also includes real-time traffic and parking information, navigation, and voice-command capabilities.
The 2025 Mercedes-Benz C-Class lineup offers two mainstream trims—C 300 and C 300 4Matic—and two performance-oriented variants—AMG C 43 and AMG C 63 S E Performance. The base C 300 is a RWD vehicle, while the others offer AWD. At $48,450, the C 300 is the least expensive, while the $86,050 AMG C 63 S E Performance is the most costly C-Class model. All are four-door sedans.
The 2025 C-Class offers complimentary roadside assistance for four years or 50,000 miles—the length of the vehicle's limited warranty. However, Mercedes-Benz does not provide free scheduled maintenance. The automaker supplies connected services via the Mercedes-Benz Me Connect app; they’re complimentary for one year.
Advantage: Neither
Why? These two models are right on top of each other in features and price.

2025 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

The 3 Series also ranks third in its segment in the JD Power 2024 U.S. Initial Quality Study (IQS), which tracks problems experienced by owners during the first 90 days.
The 2025 BMW 3 Series offers a standard warranty of four years or 50,000 miles and a powertrain warranty of four years or 50,000 miles.
The Mercedes-Benz C-Class does not rank among the top three models in its segment in either the 2024 VDS or 2024 IQS. Its basic warranty coverage matches the 3 Series.

Stepping up to the M340i brings a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine, generating 386 hp and 398 pound-feet of torque. Both engines feature mild-hybrid technology and pair with an eight-speed automatic transmission. At the top of the range, the high-performance M3 Competition xDrive takes it to the next level with an impressive 523 hp.
According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the 2025 330i sedan achieves a combined fuel-economy rating of 31 mpg. Opting for AWD lowers the rating slightly to 29 mpg, which is the fuel-economy estimate for the M340i sedan, regardless of whether it’s RWD or AWD.
The 2025 Mercedes-Benz C-Class gives potential buyers three engine choices. The base C 300 and the AWD C 300 4Matic feature a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with mild-hybrid assist that delivers 255 hp and 295 pound-feet of torque. The AMG C 43 sports a hand-built turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, producing 416 hp and 369 pound-feet of torque. Like the C 300's powertrain, it has a 48-volt mild-hybrid system. The AMG C 63 S E Performance has a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with electric motor support at the rear wheels. It offers 671 hp and 752 pound-feet of torque.
The base Mercedes-Benz C 300 is EPA-rated at 29 mpg combined, while the C 300 4Matic gets a 27-mpg combined estimate. The EPA estimates the AMG C 43 to return 22 mpg in combined driving. The EPA has not rated the C 63’s fuel economy as of this writing.
Advantage: Neither
Why? In terms of mainstream powertrains, the two luxury sedans are evenly matched.

Advantage: Neither
Why? These two cars offer very similar—and very elaborate—technology. The 3 Series has a bigger infotainment screen, but the C-Class might have a slight edge in user-friendliness.

Passengers in the 2025 Mercedes-Benz C-Class will experience a stylish and thoughtfully crafted interior, which offers ample room for five occupants. Mercedes seamlessly integrates the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and 11.9-inch infotainment screen for a modern look. Signature Mercedes-Benz elements, such as the seat-profile adjustment controls and the "turbo" air vents, complement the clean, minimalist design of the center console, which is free from a traditional shift lever.
The C-Class comes with standard heated, 10-way power-adjustable seats for the driver and front passenger. Ventilated and massaging front seats are available. The standard upholstery is synthetic leather, and there are multiple genuine leather options from which to choose. Dual-zone automatic climate control is standard, and options include digital headlights, enhanced interior ambient lighting, and a head-up display.
The C-Class trunk offers a scant 11.6-cubic-feet capacity, but Mercedes equips the trunk lid with a standard electric closer.
