Facing renewed competition in the full-size, light duty pickup truck segment, the 2027 Ford F-150 receives subtle styling updates, a new standard engine, broader availability of its 5.0-liter V8, and more affordable versions of the Tremor and Raptor off-road trucks. Additionally, a new 2027 F-150 Carhartt variant is available, and Ford updates the BlueCruise hands-free driver assistance system for use while towing.
The 2027 F-150 now comes standard with a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6, replacing the turbocharged 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6. Ford says the new engine, rated to deliver 325 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 400 pound-feet of torque at 2,250 rpm, makes about 10 percent more torque at more accessible speeds than the previous engine. The 3.0-liter EcoBoost engine’s maximum tow rating is 8,400 pounds, and it can carry up to 1,755 pounds of payload.
Additionally, Ford also expands the availability of its popular 5.0-liter V8 engine to include the King Ranch and Platinum for the 2027 model year. The 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 (standard and high-output versions), 3.5-liter PowerBoost hybrid powertrain, and supercharged 5.2-liter V8 (Raptor R only) remain available. All 2027 Ford F-150 trucks have a 10-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive (4WD).
Ford offers the 2027 F-150 in XL, STX, XLT, Lariat, Tremor, King Ranch, Platinum, and Raptor trim levels.
For 2027, the F-150 XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, and Platinum receive styling and wheel design updates. A more affordable F-150 Tremor debuts, based on the STX trim. Similarly, a new entry level F-150 Raptor sheds some formerly standard equipment to offer a more accessible price point for off-road enthusiasts.
New for 2027, the F-150 Carhartt is based on an XLT crew cab equipped with 4WD. Off-road exterior styling, 20-inch wheels, exclusive fender vents and detailing, and a spray-in bed liner visually signal the Carhartt treatment. Inside, this version of the F-150 features durable, two-tone Carhartt-themed upholstery and interior details, and standard all-weather floor mats. The F-150 Carhartt is priced at $62,660, excluding destination.
Ford is also offering BlueCruise with Towing on the 2027 F-150, and it is available for every trim equipped with the hands-free technology. Ford says it will not charge extra for the new capability.
The updated 2027 F-150 is facing new challengers in the full-size, light duty pickup truck segment. The 2027 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and 2027 GMC Sierra 1500 are completely redesigned, with new V8 engines, updated technology, and additional off-roading capability. Ram is returning the TRX SRT to its lineup, equipped with a supercharged V8 engine. A new family of Rumble Bee street-oriented performance trucks is also rolling into Ram showrooms.
While these fresh rivals will give the 2027 F-150 renewed competition, Ford has offered the best selling truck in this segment for nearly 50 years. The company is unlikely to let that streak end anytime soon.
