What's New for the 2025 BMW Models?

With the exception of the all-new X3 compact crossover SUV, the 2025 model year is quiet for new BMW launches after a flurry in 2024. Instead of debuting a cadre of all-new models, the brand refreshes several of its conventional and battery-electric models, adding additional equipment and more sophisticated tech.

Changes to the individual 2025 BMW model lines are listed below alphabetically.

2025 BMW 2 Series/2 Series Gran Coupe/M2 Changes - Find the best BMW 2 Series deals!

The 2025 BMW 2 Series Coupe features updated exterior and interior styling and now comes with the BMW Curved Display powered by Operating System 8.5. Standard equipment upgrades include heated front seats and Personal eSIM 5G across all variants.

BMW extensively updated the 2 Series Gran Coupe for the 2025 model year with new powertrains and a revised chassis with standard adaptive suspension. The automaker matches the car’s turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT). Additionally, BMW Live Cockpit Plus with the cloud-based navigation system BMW Maps, a 12-speaker Harman Kardon premium sound system, keyless entry, wireless device charging, and auto-dimming interior and exterior mirrors are now standard.

The 2025 BMW M2 features refreshed styling and increased performance with a 473-horsepower, twin-turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine paired with a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic transmission. BMW makes Personal eSIM 5G standard, while black exhaust tips, M Carbon bucket seats, and an M Alcantara steering wheel are available as standalone options.

The 2025 BMW 3 Series offers a refreshed exterior, revised suspension, and 48-volt mild-hybrid technology for its four-cylinder engines. Enhancements include a BMW Curved Display with Operating System 8.5, standard heated front seats, lumbar support, and wireless charging. Active Driving Assistant is now standard on the sporty M340i version.

The performance-focused 2025 BMW M3 features updated styling, BMW Operating System 8.5 with M-specific graphics, and a 20-hp increase for the M3 Competition with M xDrive. Optional updates include a Carbon package and new double-spoke silver-color wheels.

2025 BMW 4 Series/4 Series Gran Coupe/M4 Changes - Find the best BMW 4 Series deals!

The 2025 BMW 4 Series Coupe, Convertible, and Gran Coupe get exterior styling changes, revised interiors with the BMW Curved Display, and updated four- and six-cylinder engines with 48-volt mild-hybrid technology. Standard upgrades include heated seats, lumbar support, Personal eSIM 5G, and wireless charging. Additionally, the M440i gets laser-light taillights.

The 2025 BMW M4 Coupe and Convertible offer updated exterior looks, and the Competition variants gain additional power. The lightweight, high-performance M4 CS recently joined the M4 lineup. Upgrades include an M Carbon roof (coupes) and full LED headlights with laser-light taillights.

The BMW 5 Series sedan was all-new for 2024, with a battery-electric i5 (see details below) joining the conventionally powered models for the first time. The 2025 5 Series lineup now includes the 530i, 530i xDrive, 540i xDrive with a six-cylinder engine, and the plug-in hybrid 550e xDrive in addition to the i5. For 2025, BMW makes heated front seats standard on 530i and 540i xDrive models, and a heated steering wheel is available as a standalone option on all 5 Series sedans.

The seventh generation of BMW's high-performance M5 sedan sets a new benchmark as the most powerful of its breed yet. Equipped with the M Hybrid drive system, it delivers an impressive 717 hp and 738 pound-feet of torque, enabling a claimed zero-to-60-mph time of just 3.4 seconds. Equipped with the M Driver’s package, BMW says the M5 can reach a top speed of 190 mph. It also offers a projected fully electric, zero-emissions range of approximately 25 miles, combining exceptional performance with enhanced efficiency.

Adding a measure of practicality to its potent performance capabilities, the new M5 Touring wagon variant joins the U.S. lineup for the first time in 2025.

For 2025, the BMW 7 Series offers a “Panoramic Sky Lounge LED Roof” standard on the 740i and 750e xDrive, while optional updates include black trim with metallic inlay and M stripes for all versions.

BMW has discontinued the Convenience package, integrating its features into standard equipment. The Driving Assistance package is now available for the i4 M50 xDrive.

The 389-hp, all-wheel-drive i5 xDrive40 joined the 5 series lineup in early 2024. Heated front seats are now standard on the i5 eDrive40 (BMW discontinued the Convenience package that included them). BMW offers a heated steering wheel as a standalone option across all i5 variants, and LED lights with cornering lights are available as a standalone option for the i5 eDrive40 and i5 xDrive40.

BMW makes minimal changes to the 2025 i7 sedan lineup. The Panoramic Sky Lounge LED Roof is now standard on the i7 eDrive50, while front massaging seats and a luxury rear seating package are standard on the i7 xDrive60.

The battery-electric BMW iX gets minor changes for 2025. The interior design package, featuring M dark silver trim and an M steering wheel, is now standard on the iX M60 and optional on the iX xDrive50. The BMW X3 is all-new for 2025 and offers two versions: X3 30 xDrive and X3 M50 xDrive. The former boasts a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that delivers 255 hp, while the latter, a turbocharged six-cylinder using the Miller cycle, produces 393 hp. Both use 48-volt mild-hybrid technology.

Inside, the new X3 offers the BMW Curved Display and iDrive 9. In addition to digital options for infotainment and personalization, the new X3 features standard and optional systems for semi-automated driving and parking, including forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, active blind-spot warning, and backup assistance. The optional Driving Assistant Professional package includes the hands-on-the-wheel automated driving for highway speeds, and traffic-jam assist for hands-free driving at lower speeds up to 40 mph.

The 2025 BMW X4 offers standard heated front seats. BMW also adds remote engine start to the Convenience and Premium packages. Additionally, BMW makes black Vernasca leather with contrast stitching optional.

2025 BMW X5/X5 M Changes - Find the best BMW X5 deals!

For 2025, the limited-production Silver Anniversary Edition X5 xDrive40i marks 25 years of the X5 with exclusive paint, trim, and the xOffroad package. Full LED lights with cornering lights are standard on key versions, while options include multi-contour seats, a two-axle air suspension, and an illuminated kidney grille.

The 2025 X6 changes largely mirror those of the X5. The xDrive40i now comes with standard full LED lights featuring cornering lights. The Driving Assistant Professional package adds active lane-changing assistance with eye activation, and the Climate Comfort package adds multi-contour seats.
