The 2025 BMW 4 Series—the two-door coupe and convertible version of the esteemed 3 Series—and the 4 Series Gran Coupe sloped-roof sedan are updated with more powerful engines using mild-hybrid technology, refreshed exterior designs, and updated interiors with new tech. Starting at just over $50,000, the new 4 Series is on sale now. Customers have more personalization choices too, with the addition of new paint colors and wheel options.

Unlike the four-door 3 Series sedan, the 4 Series coupe is available as a coupe or convertible model. A sloped-roof four-door 4 Series Gran Coupe sedan with the same engine options is also available, but there’s no convertible, and it has less cargo room than the 3 Series. Rear-wheel drive is standard on all 2025 4 Series models, although BMW’s xDrive all-wheel drive (AWD) is available for enhanced traction and performance.

For 2025, BMW updates the 4 Series by giving the large twin kidney grilles a matte chrome surround and revising the front end with a new LED headlamp design. The M440i Gran Coupe now features gloss black trim. Depending on the model, new Y-spoke wheels are available in either black or a two-tone finish. Additionally, BMW adds two new exterior colors—Cape York Green Metallic and Vegas Red Metallic—to the options list.

Inside the revised 4 Series is the same 12.3-inch digital gauge display and 14.9-inch infotainment screen as the 3 Series sedan; it runs BMW's iDrive 8.5 system. The screens rely on a center console-mounted dial but have touch functionality to reduce the number of buttons needed within the cabin. Drivers can operate things like the climate controls and the heated steering wheel through the touchscreen.

For the 2025 model year, both of the 4 Series’ engine options get a mild assist from electrification. All models, including the coupe, convertible, and Gran Coupe, share these options. The 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine in the base 430i model has a 48-volt hybrid system that helps push output to 255 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque.
The M440i also has a 48-volt system, and its turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine makes 386 hp and 398 pound-feet of torque. In addition to the more powerful engine, the M440i adds an M Sport suspension, rear differential, and a rear spoiler.

BMW is equipping all its models with the latest version of its infotainment system: iDrive 8.5. Drivers can control this system using the center dial and touchscreen. The new 4 Series also offers an augmented-reality view on the dashboard, providing live video of the driver's view to supplement the in-car navigation.
Only some 4 Series competitors offer a coupe version of their mainstay four-door sedan. Two German rivals do, though. The Audi A5 has coupe and sedan offerings, as does the Mercedes-Benz C-Class. All three offer convertible models along with the coupe. The Genesis G70 is cheaper than German luxury sedans, coupes, and convertibles but is only available as a sedan.
