While today's minivans are good-looking, they emphasize versatility and usefulness rather than fashion. For those seeking to transport people and cargo safely, comfortably, and efficiently, minivans like the Chrysler Pacifica and Toyota Sienna are excellent options.
A lot of vehicle designers seek to go outside of the box. You could say that minivan designers stay inside it. The minivan's shoebox shapes are very efficient for packaging people and their stuff, which is their prime mission. The Chrysler Pacifica and Toyota Sienna employ fluid variations of the basic box to deliver excellent utility while being reasonably easy on the eyes. But the inside of each minivan box is what’s really important.
Chrysler and Toyota fill their minivans with innovative comfort and convenience items like intercom systems, entertainment arrays, and slide-away and foldaway seats. As family vehicles, safety is paramount, so these two minivans feature advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) that use sophisticated cameras and sensors. Technology like automatic emergency braking, rear cross-traffic warning, and backup cameras help keep minivan occupants in the safe zone.
This pair of minivans offers more innovation than you might guess when it comes to powertrains. The Toyota Sienna is hybrid-powered; it doesn't offer a conventional gasoline-fueled powertrain. Meanwhile, the Chrysler Pacifica offers a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain as an alternative to its standard conventional V6. To help deal with inclement weather, both minivans offer optional all-wheel drive (AWD).
As two of the market's leading minivans, the Pacifica and Sienna share many attributes in their mission to meet the needs of American families, but each has its pluses and minuses. This 2025 Chrysler Pacifica vs. 2025 Toyota Sienna comparison aims to help you determine which is right for your family.
2025 Chrysler Pacifica Pinnacle
The 2025 Chrysler Pacifica is available in three trim levels: Select, Limited, and Pinnacle. The Select and Pinnacle trims feature a plug-in hybrid option, while the Limited is only available with a conventional gas engine. The entry-level Select, priced at $42,450, comes standard with front-wheel drive (FWD); AWD is available. The conventionally powered Limited and Pinnacle also offer AWD.
In contrast, the Pacifica Plug-in Hybrid is only available with FWD. At the top end, the premium Pinnacle PHEV costs around $60,000. Prices do not include the $1,695 destination charge. The Pacifica Hybrid is eligible for the $7,500 federal tax credit.
For 2025, Chrysler adds a value-oriented, FWD-only Voyager model to its minivan lineup. However, the focus of this comparison remains the Pacifica.
The 2025 Pacifica includes complimentary roadside assistance for five years or 60,000 miles. However, Chrysler does not offer free scheduled maintenance. Buyers can subscribe to a variety of connected services. The Safety & Security package, complimentary for 10 years, includes emergency calls and vehicle theft alerts.
The 2025 Toyota Sienna gives buyers the choice of six trims: LE, XLE, XSE, Woodland Edition, Limited, and Platinum. All Siennas use a hybrid powertrain; buyers can select FWD or AWD. The LE is the base-level 2025 Sienna, with an MSRP of $39,185. At the top of the lineup, the richly equipped Platinum with AWD has a suggested starting price of $56,145. Prices do not include the $1,450 destination charge.
Every new 2025 Sienna comes with ToyotaCare, a complimentary maintenance plan that covers routine factory-scheduled maintenance for two years or 25,000 miles, whichever comes first. Toyota also includes free roadside assistance coverage for two years with no mileage limit. The Sienna offers a comprehensive list of connected services with trial subscriptions for 10 years. Its Wi-Fi Connect hotspot offers a 30-day/two-gigabyte trial.

Why? With its standard hybrid powertrain, the base-level Sienna seems to be a particular bargain, but the Pacifica offers the only plug-in hybrid in the segment.
2025 Toyota Sienna Platinum
The Chrysler Pacifica does not rank among the top three models in the Minivan segment in the JD Power 2024 U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study (VDS), which assesses owner-reported problems during the third year of ownership.
The Pacifica also does not rank among the top three models in its segment in the JD Power 2024 U.S. Initial Quality Study (IQS), which tracks problems experienced by owners during the first 90 days.
The 2025 Chrysler Pacifica offers a standard three-year or 36,000-mile warranty and a powertrain warranty of five years or 60,000 miles. Hybrid systems carry a 10-year/100,000-mile warranty.
The Toyota Sienna ranks second in the Minivan segment in the 2024 VDS but does not rank among the top three models in its segment in the 2024 IQS. Its limited warranty and powertrain warranty match the Pacifica’s, while its hybrid system warranty is for eight years or 100,00 miles.

Why? The Sienna ranks among the top three in its segment in vehicle dependability.
2025 Chrysler Pacifica Plug-in Hybrid Pinnacle
The 2025 Chrysler Pacifica offers potential buyers both conventional and PHEV powertrain options. The PHEVs feature an Atkinson-cycle 3.6-liter V6 engine supplemented by two electric motors, delivering a total system output of 260 horsepower. All Pacifica plug-in hybrids come with FWD. The conventional powertrain features an iteration of the 3.6-liter V6 engine that generates 287 hp and 262 pound-feet of torque, paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard, with AWD available.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the FWD conventional V6-powered Pacifica at 22 mpg in combined driving and the AWD version at 20 mpg. The Pacifica PHEV gets an 82 MPGe combined rating and an estimated all-electric range of 32 miles.
The 2025 Toyota Sienna has gone the innovative route of offering only a hybrid powertrain. Its FWD versions combine a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with two electric motors, while its AWD versions add a third electric motor driving the rear wheels. In both configurations, the total system horsepower is listed at 245. Total torque exceeds 370 pound-feet. The van transmits its power and torque via an electronically controlled continuously variable automatic transmission with sequential shift mode. The hybrid system employs a nickel-metal-hydride battery recharged as the vehicle decelerates or brakes.
While official fuel-economy estimates for the 2025 Sienna are unavailable, the EPA estimated that the FWD 2024 Toyota Sienna will achieve 36 mpg and the AWD variant 35 mpg in combined driving.
Advantage: Neither
Why? The conventional Pacifica offers more power and better acceleration than the Sienna, and the plug-in hybrid version delivers 82 MPGe. But the base Sienna turns in a remarkable 36-mpg combined EPA performance.

The 2025 Chrysler Pacifica provides buyers with an impressive array of standard ADAS. In addition to the standard safety features mentioned in this section's preamble, the Pacifica includes adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go functionality and rear parking assistance with automatic braking. Optional features include a surround-view camera, front parking assistance with automatic braking, and parallel and perpendicular parking assistance.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) awarded the 2025 Chrysler Pacifica its highest five-star overall safety rating. As of this writing, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has not rated the crashworthiness of the 2025 Pacifica. However, the Institute named the structurally similar 2024 Pacifica a Top Safety Pick for the 2023 calendar year. However, at publication time, the group has not extended the award to 2024.
The 2025 Toyota Sienna offers most ADAS features outlined above as standard across the Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 (TSS 2.0) package. Though Toyota does not include them in TSS 2.0, blind-spot warning and rear cross-traffic warning are also standard, as is traffic-sign recognition. Front and rear parking assistance with automatic braking is standard on all but the base LE. A surround-view camera and color head-up display are standard on the Platinum trim.
For 2025, the Sienna adds a standard radar-based rear-seat reminder system that can detect movement in the rear seats after the driver has turned off and locked the vehicle.
The NHTSA gave the 2025 Toyota Sienna a five-star overall safety rating. At the time of writing, the IIHS has yet to rate the crashworthiness of the 2025 Sienna. However, the Institute named the structurally similar 2024 model a Top Safety Pick for the 2024 calendar year.

2025 Chrysler Pacifica Pinnacle
The 2025 Chrysler Pacifica's base Uconnect 5 infotainment system features a 10.1-inch touchscreen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, AM/FM/HD Radio, voice command, voice text reply, Amazon Alexa compatibility, SiriusXM 360L satellite radio with Pandora, and dual phone connectivity. The Limited and Pinnacle trims come with Uconnect 5 Nav, which adds TomTom navigation, Chrysler Connect, SiriusXM Traffic, SiriusXM Travel Link, and enhanced over-the-air update capabilities. Premium audio systems from Alpine and Harman Kardon are available on several trims.
Most 2025 Pacifica trims offer Chrysler Connect, which encompasses a variety of subscription-based connected services. The Safety & Security package—complimentary for 10 years—features emergency calls, automatic emergency calls, and vehicle theft alerts. A 4G Wi-Fi hotspot is available by subscription.
The Uconnect Theater group—standard on the Pinnacle trim and optional on others—includes 10.1-inch passenger touchscreens, Amazon Fire TV, and a Blu-ray/DVD player. The entertainment package also offers games, wireless headphones, video remote controls, HDMI inputs, a third-row USB charging port, and a 115-volt auxiliary power outlet. Additionally, an in-vehicle public-address and camera system is available.
The 2025 Sienna includes the latest Toyota Audio Multimedia infotainment system with a 8-inch touchscreen. However, it lacks some features the Pacifica and other competitors offer. On the plus side, it offers Bluetooth connectivity and a three-month trial subscription to SiriusXM, and a 12.3-inch touchscreen is available. The Limited and Platinum trims feature a satellite-linked navigation system and premium JBL 12-speaker audio. A wireless device charger is available across the lineup.
All 2025 Siennas give their owners access to Toyota's extensive array of connected services. The one-year Safety Connect trial includes an emergency assistance button and a stolen-vehicle locator. Remote Connect includes remote locking and unlocking, remote engine start, and "guest driver" monitoring. The Sienna also offers a 30-day trial of 4G connectivity for up to 10 devices.
Family vehicles like the Pacifica and Sienna are logical candidates for rear-seat entertainment systems. The Sienna joins the battle with its optional entertainment package, which features a 1080p high-definition 11.6-inch display, HDMI input, remote control, and two wireless headphone sets. The Sienna offers an in-vehicle public-address system but not an in-car camera.

Why? The Pacifica’s Uconnect system has a larger display and more features than the Sienna’s infotainment system.
2025 Toyota Sienna Platinum
Most 2025 Chrysler Pacifica vans seat seven passengers, but eight-passenger seating is available. A standout Pacifica feature is its Stow 'n Go second- and third-row seats, which fold into the floor. The third row in the top trims is power-folding. The plug-in hybrid models have second-row captain's chairs. The base Select trim has synthetic leather seats; all others have genuine Nappa leather. Three-zone automatic climate control is standard across all trims, and an integrated vacuum cleaner is standard on the Pinnacle and optional on other trims.
The Pacifica features a standard eight-way power-adjustable driver seat with power lumbar support, and an eight-way front passenger seat is widely available. Heated front seats are standard on all trims, with optional heated second-row seats on some versions. Ventilated front seats are standard on the Limited and Pinnacle trims and available on the PHEV Select trim.
The Pacifica offers 32.3 cubic feet of cargo space behind the third row, which expands to 87.5 cubic feet with the third-row seats stowed, and a generous 140.5 cubic feet with both the second- and third-row seats folded down. Power-operated sliding side doors and liftgate make loading and unloading easier.
The 2025 Toyota Sienna offers seating for seven or eight occupants and plenty of cargo space even when all seats are filled. The versatile second row of seats can slide forward and backward over two feet, providing expansive legroom or additional behind-seats cargo space. The Limited and Platinum second-row captain's chairs feature flip-up ottomans. The Sienna's 60/40 Split & Stow third seat easily folds down so you can configure the space for a combination of passengers and cargo. Depending upon trim, Toyota covers the seats in cloth, synthetic leather, or genuine leather.
The Sienna's interior features a broad center console over a large storage area. Eight-way power-adjustable driver's seats are standard, and most trims have four-way power-adjustable front passenger seats. Heated seats are standard on most trim levels, and heated and ventilated front seats are available across the top trims. Three-zone automatic climate control is standard, and top trims offer a four-zone automatic system.
For 2025, the Sienna adds a convenient new in-vehicle vacuum mounted in the front center console. It’s standard on the Platinum trim and available on the Limited. An available new FridgeBox— also integrated into the front center console—keeps drinks and snacks cool.
The Sienna provides 33.5 cubic feet of cargo space behind the third-row seats. It has 75.2 cubic feet of cargo space with the third row folded. With the second- and third-row seats out of the way, it can accommodate 101 cubic feet of cargo. Its total cargo-carrying ability is somewhat limited by the fact its second-row seats are not removable or, in the case of the Pacifica, stowable. Hands-free power sliding side doors and liftgate aid entry, exit, and loading.
