For 2026, Hyundai streamlines the Kona from seven trim levels to four and makes several advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) standard across all trims. Prices for the small crossover SUV start at $27,100, including the destination charge.

The 2026 Kona is a carryover model for Hyundai, so changes are minor and focus on expanding select standard ADAS and simplifying trims. Available trims for 2026 include: SE, SEL Sport, SEL Premium, and Limited. The SEL, SEL Convenience, N Line, and N Line S are no longer offered.
Adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability is now standard on all 2026 Konas, as are forward collision warning with intersection turn assistance and Direct Oncoming detection, which monitors vehicles approaching from the side at intersections, warns of oncoming traffic during turns, and can apply the brakes in an emergency.
All-wheel drive (AWD) remains available across the 2026 Kona lineup for $1,500, and two engine options carry over. Powering the SE and SEL Sport is a 147-horsepower 2.0-liter inline-four engine paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). Output is modest but sufficient for commuting and everyday use. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) estimates that front-wheel-drive (FWD) Konas will achieve 31 mpg combined, while AWD versions offer 28 mpg.
The SEL Premium and Limited upgrade to a turbocharged 1.6-liter inline-four-cylinder engine producing 190 hp and 195 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The added power delivers a more spirited acceleration, but at a slight reduction in fuel efficiency. The EPA rates this powertrain at 28 mpg combined when driving the front wheels and 26 mpg combined when engaging all four wheels.
Inside, the 2026 Kona retains its attractive cabin design. Every trim includes a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone mirroring. The SEL Premium and Limited trims feature a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. Depending on the trim, available features include 64-way ambient lighting, a power sunroof, an eight-speaker Bose audio system, a surround view camera, and a hands-free smart liftgate.
Cargo space starts at 25.5 cubic feet behind the back row and expands to 63.7 cubic feet with the 60/40 split rear seats folded down.
Exterior updates for 2026 are minimal. The SEL Sport features 18-inch black-painted alloy wheels, gloss black exterior mirrors, and a rear spoiler. The SEL Premium retains the mirror accents and adds 19-inch wheels and a color-matched rear spoiler. Beyond these trim-specific changes, the Kona's distinctive styling and exterior color palette remain unchanged from 2025.
Hyundai's SmartSense ADAS suite comes standard, bundling features such as blind spot warning, rear cross-traffic warning, lane keeping assistance, and lane centering assistance into a single comprehensive package. The Limited trim adds Highway Driving Assist and parking sensors.

The small SUV segment offers plenty of alternatives to the 2026 Hyundai Kona, including the Buick Envista, Chevrolet Trax, Honda HR-V, Nissan Kicks, Mazda CX-30, Toyota Corolla Cross, and Volkswagen Taos. The Kona stands out for its competitive pricing, available AWD across all trims, turbocharged engine option, comprehensive safety technology, and charming styling inside and out. However, with only incremental changes for 2026, buyers may find similar value in the outgoing 2025 model if dealers are offering incentives.
