The Ford Expedition is a full-size SUV with spacious accommodations and robust towing capability. It enters the 2026 model year with minimal changes. That is unsurprising, since the SUV received notable updates for 2025. The 2026 Ford Expedition adds Marsh Gray and removes Wild Green from its exterior paint color options. Pricing starts at $65,495, including the $2,795 destination charge.
The Expedition excels at delivering the most capacity. Its cabin comfortably seats up to eight people, and with 43.5 inches of legroom, even third-row passengers can stretch out and relax. There is also plenty of room for gear, grocery bags, and luggage. The standard Expedition provides 21.6 cubic feet of cargo space with all seats in place and 60.8 cubic feet behind the second row. Lowering the second- and third-row seats yields 108.5 cubic feet of cargo space. An extended-wheelbase version, the Expedition Max, is available if you need even more room.
This Ford also delivers strong towing performance. When equipped with four-wheel drive (4WD) and the available Heavy-Duty Trailer Tow package, it can tow a whopping 9,600 pounds. That gives it greater towing capacity than rival SUVs such as the Chevrolet Tahoe and the Nissan Armada.
Expedition buyers can choose from four trim levels: Active, Platinum, Tremor, and King Ranch. Active is the base trim and includes 18-inch wheels and a power upper and lower liftgate. The cabin features cloth upholstery, tri-zone automatic climate control, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone mirroring, and a six-speaker stereo. As you move up the trim range, features such as heated and ventilated front seats, leather upholstery, and power-reclining third-row seats become available. The options list also includes technology amenities such as a rear seat entertainment system and a 10-speaker Bang & Olufsen stereo.
Two engines are available. The base setup is a turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 with 400 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque. If you need more power, a high-output version of that engine is optional, producing 440 hp and 510 pound-feet of torque. Rear-wheel drive (RWD) is standard; 4WD is optional, and all trims feature a 10-speed automatic transmission.
Ford equips the 2026 Expedition with a generous standard suite of driver assistance features. All trims include forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, reverse automatic braking, blind spot warning, automatic emergency steering, and front and rear parking sensors. Automatic high-beam headlights, a surround view camera, and adaptive cruise control are also standard.
The large SUV class continues to grow and is intensely competitive. The Chevrolet Tahoe is an excellent pick in this segment, offering ample room and a smooth ride. The GMC Yukon also offers an optional diesel engine and an upmarket cabin. Note that the Expedition has a higher tow rating than either of these rivals.
