The 2026 Nissan Sentra gets a significant refresh, providing what buyers want: a more stylish exterior, upgraded technology, and a selection of trim levels from simple to sporty.

Nissan offers the 2026 Sentra in four trims: S, SV, SR, and SL. The base S includes essential features with standard Nissan Safety Shield 360 technologies. The SV adds wireless smartphone integration and additional convenience features. The SR focuses on sportiness with blacked-out trim, a rear spoiler, and 18-inch wheels.
At the top, the SL offers premium touches like quilted upholstery, a sunroof, dual-zone climate control, and ambient lighting. All trims are equipped with a 149-horsepower, 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT).

Overall, the updates to the exterior of the 2026 Sentra were much needed, giving the once plain compact sedan a more premium and stylish look. Up front, slim LED projector headlights with strong light output frame the redesigned V-motion grille. When unlocked, a welcoming pattern that includes the turn signals and high/low beams lights up, adding a touch of elegance before you even step inside.
Nissan says that almost every exterior update improves aerodynamics. According to the automaker, the shape of the trunk and rear fenders helps control airflow, while smaller wheel openings and specially designed side mirrors reduce drag. Below, flat foot covers and tire deflectors also enhance the overall efficiency.
Three wheel options are available—16, 17, and 18 inches—featuring a fresh design with intersecting lines that evoke motion, even when parked. There is a wide range of color options, but only four are available with a contrasting black roof: Aspen White, Bluestone Pearl, Atlantic Gray, and Energetic Ember.
Nissan enhances the SR grade with a sporty look by featuring a distinctive front fascia with a blacked-out center section, a dark chrome grille, a signature rear bumper, black side sills, a rear spoiler, 18-inch wheels, and a two-tone roof design.

Nissan makes noticeable upgrades to the 2026 Sentra's cabin, adding impactful modern touches for a more convenient and connected driving experience. Dual 12.3-inch displays are available, and the standard 12.3-inch center touchscreen is positioned above the air vents and the touch-sensitive climate control panel. According to the automaker, the infotainment system display is now twice as bright as previous models, making it easier to read in various lighting conditions.
The high-end SL trim includes a power sunroof, 64-color customizable ambient lighting, a heated steering wheel, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and asymmetrical-quilted synthetic leather upholstery. Other available upgrades include heated front seats and a wireless phone charger, both of which are new features. Nissan also claims that the Sentra offers best-in-class front legroom. The trunk's low lift over height makes storing large items easier.

Powering the 2026 Sentra is the same 2.0-liter inline-four engine paired with a retuned CVT, producing 149 hp and 146 pound-feet of torque. A new Sport drive mode is available on SV, SR, and SL trims, offering the sedan a sharper throttle response and more engaging shifting patterns when activated. All 2026 Nissan Sentras are front-wheel drive.
Nissan claims that this model is more rigid than previous years, thanks to significant reinforcement. The automaker says new shock absorber valving, an enlarged dynamic damper on the steering wheel, and smaller body openings throughout the vehicle work together to provide a more composed, quiet driving experience.

Nissan equips the 2026 Sentra with standard Safety Shield 360 technologies, a suite of six advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) such as automatic emergency braking, automatic high-beam headlights, lane departure warning, blind spot warning, rear cross-traffic warning, and rear automatic braking.
New for 2026 is Blind Spot Intervention, which actively helps prevent collisions if a driver tries to change lanes when a vehicle is in the blind spot. Intelligent forward collision warning, which monitors up to two vehicles ahead, and 10 airbags further enhance the compact sedan’s safety features.
Adaptive cruise control is now standard across the lineup, but buyers can enhance functionality with the available ProPilot Assist. This system adds extra features to the standard ACC by managing steering, braking, and acceleration in stop-and-go traffic, making long, frequent commutes easier. Nissan equips higher trims with the available surround view camera, giving drivers more confidence when parking thanks to an overhead view of the vehicle.
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard, while SV trims and higher offer wireless connectivity. An eight-speaker Bose premium audio system is available on the SL and cars with the SR Premium package. SiriusXM 360L satellite radio is optional, providing drivers access to the brand's most advanced platform.
Nissan’s Intelligent Key with walk-away locking and approach unlock is standard on the SR and SL trims and optional on the SV. It allows the driver to keep the fob in a pocket or purse while the car automatically handles locking and unlocking. Additionally, a new universal garage door opener is available for the Sentra, enabling you to open, close, and check the status of your compatible garage door.
The 2026 Nissan Sentra will hit U.S. dealer showrooms later in 2025. It aims to compete in the compact sedan market by offering a potent mix of value, design, and technology. For those considering options like the Honda Civic, Hyundai Elantra, or Toyota Corolla, the Sentra combines modern features with a tradition of affordability.
