Nissan’s family hauler gets a fresh start for 2026. The Pathfinder three-row midsize crossover SUV returns with sharper looks, smarter tech, and a few off-road tricks aimed at families who like to stray off the pavement.
This update features both interior and exterior styling tweaks, as well as improvements to the vehicle's off-road capabilities. It includes upgrades like new infotainment screens, safety features, and standard equipment across all trim levels, giving the SUV a fresh look and modern technology.
Available trim levels include S, SV, Rock Creek, SL, and Platinum, all of which offer seating for seven or eight passengers. Front-wheel drive (FWD) is standard. The brand's intelligent all-wheel-drive (AWD) system is available on most trims and comes standard on the off-road-focused Rock Creek version. The 3.5-liter V6 carries over from the previous year.
From the front bumper to the liftgate, the 2026 Pathfinder appears more confident. The redesigned front fascia replaces heavy plastic with body-colored panels, giving the SUV a cleaner, more upscale look. A sharper grille design and new LED lighting update the face, while subtle changes at the rear help create a cohesive overall design.
A new Baltic Teal paint option enhances the color palette, while black roof rails on the SL and Platinum trims give the profile a sportier look. Wheel options range from 18-inch painted alloys on the base trim to 20-inch alloys on higher trims.
The Rock Creek gains a blacked-out exterior trim, a lifted ride height, a tubular roof rack, and unique badging. A new Rock Creek premium package is now available, which includes a panoramic moonroof, a heated steering wheel, a wireless phone charger, and a 12-volt power outlet in the cargo area.
Inside, the refreshed 2026 Pathfinder feels more refined than before. A new dashboard design includes twin digital displays on select trims, complemented by updated trim materials and subtle “PATHFINDER” embossing beneath the touchscreen.
The various grades offer a range of upholstery materials, from cloth and synthetic leather to semi-aniline genuine leather, with a new quilting pattern on the Platinum grade.
A redesigned wireless charging pad provides up to 15 watts of power and features a cooling fan to prevent overheating, while a magnet keeps compatible phones in the ideal charging spot.
Rear cargo space begins at 16.6 cubic feet and expands to 80.5 cubic feet when the second and third rows are folded down. Access to the rear is convenient with Nissan’s EZ Flex system, which tips and slides the middle seats even when a child safety seat is installed.
Under the hood, the 3.5-liter V6 engine returns, paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission and paddle shifters. This setup delivers 284 horsepower and 259 pound-feet of torque. Front-wheel drive is standard. AWD is available on all trims and comes standard on the Rock Creek grade. Idle stop-start is included on all trims and can be disabled by pressing a button.
Drivers can select from seven drive modes—Auto, Eco, Tow, Sport, Sand, Mud, and Rut—using a rotary dial that adjusts the Pathfinder’s performance to match conditions. Towing capacity starts at 3,500 pounds but can reach 6,000 pounds when properly equipped.
Along with minor exterior updates, the Rock Creek version gets a slight power boost to 295 hp and 270 pound-feet of torque. It also features 7.7 inches of ground clearance, an off-road-tuned suspension, LED fog lights, and a tubular roof rack.
Every 2026 Nissan Pathfinder comes equipped with Nissan Safety Shield 360, an advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) suite that includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, rear automatic braking, lane departure warning, and blind spot warning.
Intelligent forward collision warning and ProPilot Assist are standard on SV and higher trims, helping with vehicle acceleration, braking, and steering on the highway.
For higher trims, Nissan offers a surround view camera system. This upgraded 360-degree camera now includes two views: a front-facing 180-degree view and an Invisible Hood View, which shows the area directly beneath the engine bay.
All trims now come with a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system featuring wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and a head-up display are available on higher trims, while lower trims retain traditional analog gauges.
Other tech features include multiple USB-C ports throughout the cabin, Wi-Fi hotspot capability, and a Bose premium sound system available on higher trims.
The 2026 Nissan Pathfinder goes up against other midsize three-row SUVs like the Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse, Ford Explorer, Honda Pilot, Hyundai Palisade, Kia Telluride, Subaru Ascent, and Toyota Highlander.
While many competitors offer hybrid or AWD options, the Pathfinder emphasizes traditional V6 performance, towing capability, and a capable off-road version. With its refreshed design, expanded technology features, and updated Rock Creek trim, the Pathfinder remains a strong choice for families seeking comfort and versatility.
