The 2026 Hyundai Elantra has one of the most diverse lineups in the compact sedan market. Gas-powered trims include the SE, SEL Sport, new SEL Sport Premium, Limited, and N Line. Elantra Hybrid options consist of Blue, SEL Sport, and Limited. For buyers seeking a more exciting, track-focused version, the Elantra N is still available.

The Elantra keeps its sleek shark nose front fascia, thin LED running lights, and parametric dynamic body lines that first appeared in the 2024 refresh. It results in a modern, angular, and purposeful look, with a subtle dark gloss-black finish available on the 17-inch alloy wheel option for the SEL Sport trim.

Inside, the cabin has soft touch door panels, synthetic leather upholstery on the Limited trim, and a large dual display setup. Features like Bose premium audio (on N Line and Limited), available Digital Key 2, and an optional 10.25-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone mirroring keep the Elantra's tech features competitive.

Hyundai offers several powertrain options for the 2026 Elantra. The standard 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine pairs with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT), producing 147 horsepower and 132 pound-feet of torque. Hybrid versions combine a 1.6-liter internal combustion engine (ICE) with a 32-kilowatt-hour (kWh) electric motor to generate 139 hp and 195 pound-feet of torque.

The N Line's turbocharged 1.6-liter engine provides a performance boost with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT), delivering 201 hp and 195 pound-feet of torque. Hyundai's high-performance model, the Elantra N, features a 2.0-liter turbo inline-four engine that generates 276 hp and 289 pound-feet of torque, available with either a standard six-speed manual transmission or an eight-speed wet N DCT.

Safety remains a key focus for the Elantra, with all trims including Hyundai SmartSense driver assistance features like forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keeping assistance, blind spot warning, and a driver monitoring system. Higher trims add features such as a surround-view camera and park assist. USB-C charging ports in the front and rear, along with rear side airbags, are standard across the lineup.

The Elantra competes with other compact sedans like the Honda Civic, Mazda Mazda3, Nissan Sentra, Toyota Corolla, and Volkswagen Jetta, including hybrid versions of these models. At higher trim levels, it also overlaps with entry-luxury sedans such as the Acura Integra.

With its broad trim range, a mix of efficiency and performance choices, and advanced technology features, not to mention its excellent warranty coverage, the 2026 Hyundai Elantra is designed to attract a wide range of compact sedan buyers.
