Following a complete redesign for the 2025 model year, which introduced new styling, safety, and technology features, along with an outdoorsy Activ trim level, the 2026 Chevrolet Equinox remains largely unchanged, adding a new Polar White exterior color. Additionally, a drive mode selector dial is now standard across the board.

The Equinox—Chevy’s popular compact crossover SUV—fits into the brand’s lineup between the smaller Trailblazer and the slightly larger Blazer. As in 2025, the 2026 Equinox is available in LT, RS, and Activ trim levels. The all-electric Chevrolet Equinox EV is a distinct model and is not covered in this article.
The LT is the base-level Equinox trim. However, it offers impressive value with standard features such as heated front seats and steering wheel, an 11-inch driver information display, and an 11.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The optional Midnight Edition package adds a black grille, roof rails, mirror caps, badging, and distinctive black 19-inch wheels.
The RS features sporty accents like black roof rails and mirror caps, a distinctive lower front fascia and black grille, black exterior mirrors, trim, and badging, along with 19-inch wheels (20-inch wheels are optional). A two-tone black roof is available on the RS. Inside, a flat bottom steering wheel and red-and-blue stitching add a sporty touch.
New for 2025, the rugged Activ trim features exclusive 17-inch wheels with all-terrain tires and a specially tuned suspension. A two-tone white roof is available on the RS. The interior features Evotex and sueded microfiber seating surfaces that enhance the cabin's ambiance.
All 2026 Equinox SUVs are powered by a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine producing 175 horsepower. Front-wheel drive (FWD) is standard, with all-wheel drive (AWD) available on all trims. FWD models utilize a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT), while AWD versions are paired with a conventional eight-speed automatic transmission. The 2026 Equinox with AWD can tow up to 1,500 pounds, compared to 800 pounds with FWD.
All versions of the 2026 Chevrolet Equinox come with an 11.3-inch infotainment touchscreen featuring Google Built-in. The system also offers wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone mirroring. Wireless smartphone charging and a Wi-Fi hotspot are also available.
Regarding safety, all 2026 Equinox SUVs come equipped with Chevy Safety Assist, the brand’s advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) suite. Highlights include automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, forward collision warning, lane keeping assistance, and a following distance indicator.
Pricing for the 2026 Chevrolet Equinox begins at $30,495 for the LT FWD and rises to $37,395 for the Activ AWD. All prices include the $1,795 destination charge.

The Chevy Equinox competes in one of the most fiercely contested markets in the U.S. auto industry—compact SUVs. Major rivals include the Honda CR-V, Nissan Rogue, and Toyota RAV4, but many mainstream brand automakers participate in this high-volume segment.
There are many things to like about the Equinox. It provides excellent value, a modern interior with large screens and standard Google Built-in technology, a comprehensive standard ADAS package, available AWD, and a rugged-looking Activ trim. On the downside, its 175-hp four-cylinder engine feels a bit underpowered, and its fuel economy is average. Still, it is a stylish vehicle packed with features for a reasonable price. For many buyers, that is more than enough.
