The BMW X3 is a compact luxury SUV that offers impressive fuel efficiency, and it carries over into the 2026 model year with a minor update: a tire sealant kit that allows drivers to repair punctures while on the road is now available at no cost. The kit includes a magnet and a connector pin that let you conveniently secure it to the affected wheel hub. Pricing for the 2026 BMW X3 starts at $52,650, including the destination charge.

Light-hybrid technology can save at the gas pump, and BMW uses it with great success in the 2026 X3. This SUV has two powertrains, both of which include a 48-volt mild hybrid system. That helps deliver solid gas mileage: 29 mpg combined for the base setup and 27 mpg combined for the optional powertrain. With those figures, the X3 is much more fuel efficient than rivals like the Genesis GV70.
Two sub-models are available for the 2026 BMW X3. The 30 xDrive is the base version and rides on 19-inch wheels. The cabin features heated and power-adjustable front sport seats, wood accents, and ambient lighting. On the technology front, this trim includes navigation, wireless smartphone charging, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration. You also get a digital key that lets you unlock and start the SUV with your smartphone.
The second sub-model is the M50 xDrive. It adds 20-inch wheels and a panoramic sunroof that lets natural light into the cabin. It also includes a heated steering wheel. Both X3 versions are available with options such as ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, and a Harman Kardon stereo.
The 30 xDrive features a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 255 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. The M50 xDrive offers a turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder that generates 393 hp and 428 pound-feet of torque. Both powertrains include mild hybrid support, all-wheel drive (AWD), and an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Driver assistance technology can help prevent accidents on the road. BMW equips the 2026 X3 with a helpful selection of standard driver aids, including forward collision warning, lane keeping assistance, and active blind spot warning. A surround view camera is optional. This SUV also offers a semi-autonomous hands-off driver assistance system that operates at up to 40 mph on certain roads.

When it comes to pricing, the 2026 BMW X3 falls in the middle of the compact luxury SUV class. It costs less than rivals such as the Jaguar F-Pace, Land Rover Range Rover Velar, Maserati Grecale, and Porsche Macan. However, it is more expensive than models like the Acura RDX, Cadillac XT5, and Lincoln Corsair. It is one of the most fuel-efficient picks in its segment, making it an excellent choice for drivers seeking a small luxury SUV with relatively frugal fuel consumption.
