Electric vehicles (EVs) are getting more rugged and capable. Recent examples of this trend include the Ford Mustang Mach-E Rally, Hyundai Ioniq 5 XRT, and Subaru Trailseeker. Now, you can add the all-new 2026 Toyota bZ Woodland to the list.
The 2026 bZ Woodland joins an expanding Toyota EV lineup that also includes the refreshed bZ and new C-HR. They have plenty in common, but the bZ Woodland is larger and outfitted to provide additional off-roading capability.
It is available in a single level of specification with seating for five people and a 375-horsepower electric drivetrain with all-wheel drive (AWD). An available Premium Package adds a JBL premium sound system, ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, front radiant heaters, a digital rearview mirror, and more.
If the new bZ Woodland looks familiar, you’re not mistaken. In front, Toyota’s “Hammerhead” styling theme is plainly evident, while the body character lines and black trim recall the bZ4X (now known as the bZ). The greenhouse resembles Toyota’s recently introduced Crown Signia.
The bZ Woodland looks good, especially when equipped with its optional all-terrain tires, and it is larger than the refreshed 2026 bZ and reintroduced 2026 C-HR. Toyota reports that the bZ Woodland is six inches longer and almost one inch higher than the standard bZ model.
The visual familiarity continues inside, where the driver and front passenger face a dashboard dominated by a 14-inch touchscreen infotainment display. It pairs with a digital driver display located at the base of the windshield, viewable over the top of the steering wheel.
Ambient lighting is standard to improve the mood within the cabin, and Toyota equips the bZ Woodland with SofTex artificial leather and heated front seats. Toyota reserves power front seat adjustment for the driver, and the optional Premium Package adds memory for the driver’s seat and mirror settings and ventilated front seat cushions.
Toyota promises “abundant” legroom for everyone aboard the bZ Woodland. Also, the SUV’s extended length and higher rear roof offer over 30 cubic feet of cargo space behind the back seat.
Every bZ Woodland has a dual-motor, 375-horsepower electric drivetrain that provides standard AWD. A 74.7-kilowatt-hour (kWh) lithium-ion battery pack supplies an estimated 260 miles of driving range, and the bZ Woodland offers available all-terrain tires, 8.3 inches of ground clearance, and a maximum towing capacity of 3,500 pounds.
One thing that gives the bZ Woodland a little “extra” in the off-roading department is its standard X-Mode technology. It calibrates the drivetrain for travel on different types of road and trail surfaces, and includes Grip Control, which Toyota suggests can help improve low-speed off-roading performance.
Toyota equips the bZ Woodland with a North American Charging Standard (NACS) power port, which gives owners access to a broad range of charging stations. Battery pre-conditioning is standard, and you can activate it manually or operate it automatically when you’ve set a charging station as a destination in the navigation system.
Under ideal charging conditions, using a DC fast charger, the bZ Woodland can recharge from 10% to 80% in about 30 minutes. The EV also has Plug & Charge convenience, allowing you to quickly plug in and pay for charging at participating network stations.
Other worthwhile details related to the bZ Woodland include an 11-kilowatt (kW) onboard charger, paddles on the steering wheel that control the level of regenerative braking, and complimentary Toyota Care scheduled maintenance for two years or 25,000 miles.
Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 is standard on the 2026 bZ Woodland. It includes the advanced driving assistance systems (ADAS) you expect to find on any modern vehicle, including adaptive cruise control with lane-centering assistance. However, it does not offer a hands-free driving assist system.
One of the more unusual ADAS on the bZ Woodland is Toyota’s unique Proactive Driving Assist system. You can turn this on or off, and when it’s on, it can provide subtle automated steering and braking assistance to help a driver in certain situations. In addition, the EV has a standard surround-view camera with a terrain monitor to assist with visibility when parking and off-roading.
A Toyota Audio Multimedia infotainment system is standard, accessible via the 14-inch touchscreen on the dashboard. It includes SiriusXM satellite radio with a three-month trial subscription, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and complimentary access to five of Toyota’s connected service plans.
