With the 2027 Ram 1500 Rumble Bee, Ram aims to revive the domestic muscle truck segment by offering a trio of Hemi V8 engines, including the 777-horsepower Rumble Bee SRT.
While introducing a street-focused performance variant of a popular model is not new to automakers, the industry has largely stayed away from that approach for full-size trucks. Now, with the introduction of the 2027 Ram 1500 Rumble Bee lineup, Ram aims to seize what it sees as an untapped opportunity.
This is not the first time the company has brought a high-powered, street-focused truck to market. Indeed, the Dodge Ram SRT 10, produced from 2004 to 2006, featured a 500-hp, 8.4-liter V10 engine borrowed from the Dodge Viper. According to the automaker, that truck could accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 4.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 154 mph. While that was certainly fast, the new Rumble Bee SRT is even faster, capable of reaching 60 mph in 3.4 seconds and targeting a top speed of 170 mph.
While the new SRT is the headliner, Ram is bringing three Hemi-powered Rumble Bee variants to market for the 2027 model year. The Base Rumble Bee features a 5.7-liter engine producing 395 hp and 410 pound-feet of torque. The Rumble Bee 392's 6.4-liter unit produces 470 hp and 455 pound-feet, and the Rumble Bee SRT gets a supercharged 6.2-liter power plant producing 777 hp and 680 pound-feet, which Ram claims is the most powerful engine ever offered in a production pickup truck. There is also a Rumble Bee 392 Track Pack, which equips the truck with the 6.4-liter 392 engine and many of the SRT’s upgraded components.
All Rumble Bees feature an eight-speed automatic transmission with manual shifting and paddle shifters. Four-wheel drive (4WD) is standard, and each Rumble Bee includes a front-axle disconnect button next to the console-mounted gear shifter, allowing drivers to enjoy rear-wheel-drive-only hijinks.
All Ram 1500 Rumble Bees feature a Quad Cab (crew cab) with a short pickup bed. To give the truck even more muscular proportions, engineers reduced the Ram 1500’s standard wheelbase by 13 inches. While the Rumble Bee is geared toward performance, it still provides up to 8,890 pounds of towing capacity and can haul up to 1,160 pounds.
Befitting a muscular vehicle, the Rumble Bee rides on large wheels with wide tires. Rumble Bee and 392 ride on 22x10-inch wheels with 285/45R22 all-season tires, while the SRT version rides on 325/40R22 all-season tires mounted on 22x12-inch wheels. Engineers also tweaked the truck’s suspension and brakes to improve the Rumble Bee’s ride, handling, and braking performance.
One of the hallmarks of a muscle car or truck is how it manages airflow to provide cooling and downforce. For the Rumble Bee, engineers incorporated several unique elements to help keep the truck planted and operating efficiently. Features on the Rumble Bee 392 Track Pack and SRT include a front air splitter, a front aero shield (think skid plate) for engine cooling, a rear spoiler, and an optional tri-fold hard tonneau cover.
Inside the base Rumble Bee, you will find cloth bucket seats (leather on 392 Track Pack and SRT models), a flat-bottom steering wheel with chrome paddle shifters, and a G/T console shifter. Drivers see a 12.3-inch digital gauge display, and infotainment is delivered via the corporate Uconnect system, with screen sizes ranging from 8.4 to 14.5 inches, depending on the model. Additionally, the Performance Pages feature lets owners track performance data, such as zero-to-60 times, lap times, g-force, and engine performance metrics.
The base 2027 Ram 1500 Rumble Bee will be available in late 2026, with the Rumble Bee 392, 392 Track Pack, and SRT versions to follow in the first half of 2027. Pricing for the base Rumble Bee starts at $62,790, including the destination charge. The Rumble Bee 392 and 392 Track Pack are priced at $72,790 and $82,790, respectively. The top-spec Rumble Bee SRT retails for $97,790.
While there are many choices if you are looking for an off-road-performance truck, the options are very limited if you are in the market for a factory-built full-size pickup focused on street performance.
The recently launched Ford F-150 Lobo is the most direct competitor to the Ram 1500 Rumble Bee. Both trucks feature V8 power, a lowered suspension, and aggressive styling, but the Lobo offers only one powertrain: a 400-hp 5.0-liter V8. While the Lobo’s power output is in line with the base Rumble Bee, on paper it is no match for the Rumble Bee SRT’s 777 hp. Additionally, the Lobo is available only as an equipment package on the SXT trim and shares the same interior. In contrast, the Rumble Bee is a separate trim, and its cabin has a distinct look and feel compared to other Ram 1500 variants.
