A new RST Select Special Edition joins the 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 lineup, providing an affordable, sporty choice within Chevrolet’s wide range of light-duty full-size trucks.

Essentially an appearance package, the new Silverado RST Select features 20-inch all-terrain tires on gloss-black wheels, 4-inch black round assist steps, and a spray-on bedliner. Chevrolet offers the new RST Select Special Edition in six exterior colors: Black, Radiant Red, Riptide Blue Metallic, Sterling Gray Metallic, Summit White, and White Sands Solid. Inside, Chevy provides all-weather floor liners for both the front and rear.
The special RST Select Edition package is available on crew cab models with rear-wheel drive (2WD) or four-wheel drive (4WD), as well as on extended cab models with 2WD. To keep it affordable, Chevy offers the RST Select Silverado exclusively with a turbocharged 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine. It produces 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque and is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Refreshed for 2022, the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 remains a carryover model for 2026, with only a couple of updates: the new RST Select Special Edition, detailed above, and two new paint options—Polar White Tricoat and White Sands.Polar White Tricoat and White Sands.
Available in three cab styles (regular, extended, and crew) and three pickup bed lengths (short, standard, and long), the light-duty 2026 Silverado comes in nine trim levels: WT, Custom, LT, RST, Custom Trail Boss, LTZ, LT Trail Boss, High Country, and ZR2.
In addition to the 2026 Silverado 1500, Chevy sells an all-electric Silverado EV (introduced for the 2024 model year) and a full lineup of heavy-duty models. The Silverado EV and Silverado HD models are distinctly different from the Silverado 1500.
Along with the turbocharged four-cylinder engine mentioned earlier, there are two V8 options and a 3.0-liter turbodiesel that deliver power ranging from 305 to 420 hp and torque from 430 to 495 pound-feet. The maximum towing capacity for the light-duty Silverado is 13,300 pounds, and the maximum payload is 2,260 pounds.
Depending on the trim, the 2026 Silverado offers a 13.4-inch infotainment touchscreen, Google Built-in, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, up to 14 camera views for trailering assistance, Super Cruise hands-free driving, and the Chevy Multi-Flex tailgate.
As of this writing, Chevrolet has not announced pricing for the 2026 Silverado 1500. For reference, the 2025 Silverado 1500 lineup starts at $39,195 for the WT and goes up to $72,590 for the off-road-focused ZR2. Prices include the $2,195 destination charge. You can expect a slight price increase for 2026.

The 2026 Silverado 1500 faces intense competition in the light-duty full-size pickup market. Key rivals include the Ford F-150, GMC Sierra 1500, and Ram 1500, all of which, along with the Silverado, rank among the top six best-selling models in the United States. Although not a top seller, the Toyota Tundra also competes in this segment.
According to industry reports, Chevrolet is preparing a redesigned Silverado 1500 for the 2027 model year, so it’s no surprise there’s very little news for 2026. While the new RST Select Special Edition is notable, it’s a curious addition since it isn’t a full-fledged sport truck like the new F-150 Lobo. Instead, it appears to be a direct response to Ram’s new 1500 Express, though to a lesser degree.
Regardless of Chevy’s intentions, with affordability on everyone’s mind, offering a reasonably priced, sporty-looking truck could prove to be a wise decision.
