Honda is redesigning half of its models for the 2023 model year. The CR-V, HR-V, and Pilot crossover SUVs are all-new, and the Accord family sedan gets such a thorough reworking on its previous platform that one might consider it a brand-new car.

In other news, the redesigned Civic Type R arrives as the most powerful production Honda model ever sold in the United States. Honda also cancels the base Civic LX and Odyssey LX trim levels for 2023 while the remainder of the lineup carries over with minor modifications.
Lastly, all 2023 Honda models add complimentary scheduled maintenance for two years or 24,000 miles. This new Honda Service Pass plan nearly matches what Toyota offers and is better than what you'll get in a new Volkswagen. However, it falls short of the three-year free maintenance plans from Jeep and Hyundai.
The 2023 Honda Accord is a new car riding on an improved version of the previous-generation model's platform. Honda wants half of all 2023 Accord sales to be hybrids, so a next-generation version of its two-motor hybrid drivetrain is standard with Sport, Sport-L, EX-L, and Touring trim levels. The LX and EX continue with a gas-only, turbocharged 1.5-liter 4-cylinder paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission. Honda cancels the turbo 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine for 2023.
The 2023 Accord is the first Honda to get a new Google-based infotainment system with Google Built-in, Google Assistant, Google Maps, and Google Play. We're agog at the possibilities! Next-generation body-structure engineering, airbag designs, and the Honda Sensing suite of advanced driver assistance systems are also a part of the car's redesign. Honda completely redesigned the 2022 Civic. After it introduced the sedan lineup, a 5-door hatchback arrived, expanding the car's utility with added cargo space. Now, for the 2023 model year, the Civic LX trim level vanishes, leaving the spiffy-looking Sport trim as the base model.
Of course, the big news for the 2023 Civic is the return of the performance-tuned Type R to the lineup. It comes in a 5-door hatchback format, and while the styling isn't quite as wild as the model it replaces, it does offer more performance and a thorough revision to its hardware to ensure performance gains. Get all the details in our full preview of the 2023 Honda Civic Type R.
The Honda CR-V is more than just the best-selling model wearing a shiny chrome "H" badge. It's the best-selling model (by retail sales) in America. So, it's a huge deal when the CR-V gets a redesign.
That's what's happening for the 2023 Honda CR-V. It is all-new from the rubber to the roof, and like the Accord sedan, the new CR-V offers a choice between a turbocharged 1.5-liter 4-cylinder and Honda's new fourth-generation two-motor hybrid powertrain. The turbo four is standard with EX and EX-L trim, while the Sport and the Sport Touring include the hybrid setup as standard equipment. Honda expects half of CR-Vs sold to have the more powerful and efficient hybrid drivetrain.
Otherwise, the changes include upgrades to the infotainment systems and safety features, slightly more interior passenger room and cargo space, and redesigned seats offering greater comfort. Check out our 2023 Honda CR-V preview to learn more.
Like the CR-V, the smaller 2023 Honda HR-V is all new. It grows substantially in exterior size, while passenger and cargo space remain about the same. Unfortunately, the new 2023 HR-V also lacks the former second-row "magic seat" design, so it's not as configurable as before. And while it receives a more powerful engine for 2023, the HR-V also weighs more, so performance is about the same while fuel-economy ratings decline slightly.
Still, among small crossover SUVs, the new 2023 HR-V is appealing in many ways. You can learn more in our full review of the 2023 Honda HR-V.
Not even minivans are immune to the blacked-out trim trend, as evidenced by the 2023 Honda Odyssey Sport. It comes with a black grille, black 19-inch alloy wheels, and black trim while adding black leather seats with red stitching. The 2023 Odyssey Sport also has red ambient interior lighting.
In other news, Honda drops the Odyssey LX trim, making EX the new entry-level version of the minivan. Here is a link to our most recent review of the Honda Odyssey.
After giving the Passport a significant refresh for 2022 and adding a rugged new TrailSport trim level, the midsize 2-row crossover SUV continues unchanged for 2023. Be sure to check out our full review of the 2022 Passport TrailSport.
The popular Honda Pilot is the fourth of the automaker's redesigned models for 2023. Honda builds this family-sized, 3-row crossover SUV on a new platform that first appeared underneath the all-new 2022 Acura MDX, but the 2023 Pilot is much larger inside and should appeal to a different kind of SUV buyer.
Highlights of the redesigned 2023 Honda Pilot include a new 3.5-liter V6 engine, a next-generation torque-vectoring all-wheel-drive (AWD) option, redesigned seats, fresh infotainment, and Honda Sensing safety tech. The TrailSport trim gets an upgrade, too, with added off-roading capability.
The 2023 Pilot lineup includes Sport, EX-L, Touring, TrailSport, and Elite trim levels. Only the Sport and EX-L offer standard front-wheel drive and 8-passenger seating. Other Pilots get standard AWD and second-row captain's chairs. For more details and photos of the redesigned 2023 Honda Pilot, read our preview of the new SUV.
Like the Passport, the Honda Ridgeline pickup truck received a thorough update for the 2021 model year. In 2022, a new Sonic Gray Pearl color became available. For 2023, Honda has announced no changes to the Ridgeline. If you'd like to learn more about the frequently overlooked midsize pickup truck, check out our full review of the 2021 Ridgeline.
