The 2027 Ford Bronco Filson falls on the fancier (and handsomer) end of the classic off-roader's lineup, with added comfort and convenience backed by confident power and trail capability.

Prior to covering the launch of this new Bronco, I had heard of Filson, but beyond that, I was not particularly familiar with the brand. In a nutshell, Filson makes high-quality outdoor apparel. I had the chance to tour their Seattle factory, and after seeing the care and attention to detail they put into their products, I could not leave without buying one of their famous Mackinaw Wool Cruiser jackets.
Filson’s products are known to last for generations, and if you read my bio below, you will see I resonate with that philosophy. Seeing this new Bronco in person, I could tell Ford went beyond simply slapping on Filson logos and calling it a day. The magic I saw at the Filson factory extends to this special Bronco.
Sitting on standard 35-inch tires and featuring suspension with Fox internal bypass shocks, the 2027 Bronco Filson makes a confident first impression, strutting its wide, burly stance. Front and rear electronic locking differentials, Ford’s Trail Turn Assist to shorten the SUV’s off-road turning circle, and Trail 1-Pedal Drive for rock crawling further reinforce that confident appearance with capability. The twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6, also found in the Bronco and Ranger Raptor, is icing on the cake, though it is tuned a little differently for the Filson. Ford has yet to release power and torque specifications. The same goes for pricing.

Getting inside the Bronco Filson is easier thanks to new power running boards. The cabin is beautifully trimmed with quilted leather on the ventilated front seats, and I love the quality of the hide wrapping the dashboard. If Ford was trying to evoke the feeling of slipping into a Filson jacket every time you step into this Bronco, I would say they nailed it. Nifty touches, such as door-mounted saddlebags, only reinforce that vibe. If you are packed to the roof with camping gear, the standard digital rearview mirror is handy, and still lets you see out the back.
Ford balances improved aesthetics with greater comfort. The automaker says this is its “quietest Bronco cabin yet.” Compared with the 2021 Bronco, there is roughly a 20-percent reduction in perceived wind noise, thanks to acoustic glass, upgraded seals, and better-managed exterior airflow. The Bronco Filson comes standard with a 12-speaker B&O premium audio system. I have lived with premium audio-equipped vehicles in both quiet and loud interiors. I can attest that fancy speakers work better against a calm backdrop than a cacophonous one.

The current Ford Bronco is a more refined alternative to the Jeep Wrangler, though it is still probably not as polished for everyday commuting as the Toyota 4Runner. The Bronco Filson’s upgrades put it further ahead of its immediate competition, but if you are looking for bona fide luxury, the Jeep Grand Cherokee is a good start. If you want to dive headfirst into opulence, Land Rover’s has the Defender. The 2027 Ford Bronco Filson will be available to order this fall, with units hitting dealerships early next year.
