The all-new, second-generation 2026 Hyundai Palisade debuted at the 2025 New York International Auto Show, boasting a host of improvements to the midsize three-row SUV. With bold new styling, a commanding stance, a redesigned interior, and a new hybrid powertrain, the 2026 Palisade could set new standards in its segment.

As of this writing, Hyundai hasn't released full specs or trim level information for the 2026 Palisade. However, the automaker has confirmed two new engines, new technologies, and a rugged new XRT Pro trim with enhanced off-roading capability.

You won't miss the new Palisade charging down the road with its vertical columns of stacked rectangles that comprise the daytime running lights or the horizontal slats running across the massive front grille. Although Hyundai says the Palisade’s aerodynamics are among the best in the midsize SUV segment, these details lend an angular appearance to this tall, upright vehicle.
In addition, the silver rear roof pillars framing the back windows drop down from the roof rails, adding even more distinctiveness to the design. They also emphasize the Palisade’s larger dimensions. The bodywork is longer by 2.5 inches, the wheelbase stretches an extra 2.7 inches, and the SUV rides on available 21-inch wheels.

Inside, Hyundai installs a sophisticated dashboard reminiscent of a Roche Bobois showroom, with a curvy theme that echoes a roundedness throughout the cabin, with nary a harsh or jarring angle. That’s a departure for Hyundai, which has emphasized geometric patterns in recent years.
Two 12.3-inch displays housed under a single panoramic screen comprise the digital instrumentation and infotainment system. Refreshingly, Hyundai retains separate controls for the climate system and some infotainment features, making them easier to access because they’re not integrated into the touchscreen.
Rear passengers can enjoy the available second-row captain's chairs with a power tilt-and-slide function and heated and ventilated cushions. The third-row passengers can enjoy heated seats and power-folding, sliding, and reclining functions.

Two new power plants debut in the 2026 Palisade. The standard engine is a naturally aspirated 3.5-liter V6 making 287 horsepower; it uses an eight-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive (FWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD). The SUV’s towing capacity is 5,000 pounds. While the power output represents a slight decrease from the 291-hp 3.8-liter V6 motivating the 2025 Palisade, the new engine should deliver greater fuel economy.
Hyundai is also introducing a new hybrid engine option for the 2026 Palisade, which the automaker says should average more than 30 mpg on the highway. Two electric motors and a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine make a combined 329 hp. Hyundai says the 2026 Palisade Hybrid should deliver a range of up to 619 miles on a single tank of gas.
Hyundai also updated the Palisade’s AWD system with Mud, Sand, and Snow drive modes to optimize traction. And if your drive frequently involves more than the odd foray onto weather-slicked asphalt, you'll be happy to learn that the Palisade now comes in an extra-rugged flavor called the XRT Pro.
Visual clues identifying the toughened version include an altered front fascia, exclusive 18-inch dark-finish alloy wheels, all-terrain tires, red recovery hooks in the front and rear, XRT Pro badging, and darkened trim pieces.
More importantly, Hyundai gives the 2026 Palisade XRT Pro actual off-road performance in the form of an electronic rear limited-slip differential, an inch of extra ground clearance (for a total of 8.4 inches), downhill brake control, and greater approach, departure, and breakover angles. Also, the navigation system displays pitch, roll, and elevation while traveling off the beaten path.

In a first for Hyundai, every 2026 Palisade comes with a built-in dash cam that continuously records while you're driving. It also records if sensors detect movement while you're parked, so you can see if someone's been maltreating your new SUV.
The new Palisade also boasts goodies like a UV-C sterilization bin in the center console that zaps germs on your smaller belongings. A rearview camera mirror lets you see behind the SUV even if your cargo space is completely packed to the roof.
Unusual features on the 2025 Palisade continue to be helpful in the 2026 Palisade, such as an advanced rear-seat reminder system, navigation-based adaptive cruise control, and Remote Smart Parking Assist.
SUVs continue to dominate the U.S. new-vehicle market as families choose their taller ride height and increased cargo capacity to haul their loved ones and their gear. Rivals in the crowded upper midsize SUV segment include the Chevrolet Traverse, Ford Explorer, Honda Pilot, Jeep Grand Cherokee L, Kia Telluride, Nissan Pathfinder, Toyota Grand Highlander, and Volkswagen Atlas.
There may be no shortage of alternatives to the all-new 2026 Hyundai Palisade, but it promises the comfort, style, functionality, and technology to compete in the category handily.
