Audi Digital Stage is an advanced display system that transforms the future cockpit with innovative technology, design, and functionality. First introduced in the Audi Q6 E-tron, it turns the interior into a fully digital space that blends style and practicality. The system features multiple high-definition displays, ambient lighting effects, and smart connectivity to deliver a smooth experience for both driver and passenger.
The centerpiece of the Audi Digital Stage is its wide panoramic triple screen setup. An 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.5-inch center MMI touchscreen are positioned on a curved OLED, tilted toward the driver for easy access.
This setup offers quick access to performance data, navigation, entertainment, and climate control. Additionally, a 10.9-inch front passenger screen is built into the dashboard, allowing the passenger to access entertainment, adjust routes, or find apps independently. By dividing functionality across these three screens, Audi creates an immersive yet practical cockpit.
Aside from the screens themselves, Audi has aimed to make the Digital Stage seamlessly integrate into the interior. Ambient lighting under the curved screen creates a subtle floating effect, especially at night, making the display look like it is hovering above the dashboard.
This futuristic effect is combined with Audi's Softwrap interior trim, a continuous design element that flows from the doors into the dashboard, using sustainable materials that add warmth and sophistication.
The Digital Stage display combines style and safety. The passenger screen has Active Privacy Mode, which uses intelligent light control to make its content invisible to everyone except the passenger. This enables streaming video or app use without distracting the driver.
Passengers can even become more actively involved with navigation or multimedia control, fostering a team environment that lessens the driver’s workload. When not in use, the passenger display either appears as a glass surface or displays digital decor, seamlessly blending into the dashboard.
One feature of the Digital Stage is the augmented reality head-up display (AR HUD). The system projects important information, such as speed, navigation arrows, and traffic sign recognition, onto the windshield, making it appear to float in front of the driver about 200 meters away. By being part of the driver's visual field, the AR HUD improves situational awareness and lessens the need to look away from the road briefly.
The power of the Digital Stage comes from Audi's advanced E³ electronics architecture. This system connects the displays to a variety of connected features, including a voice-activated Audi assistant capable of understanding more than 800 commands. The assistant even has a visual avatar for on-screen interaction. Additionally, the Digital Stage supports over-the-air updates, an in-car app store, and customizable themes.
