For the 2024 model year, the most notable changes to Volvo's product line revolve around new developments to the C40 Recharge and XC40 Recharge electrified powertrains. Both models receive newly developed electric motors and more energy-dense batteries.

Aside from that, minor upgrades, including new colors, wheel designs, and standard feature content, appear throughout the lineup. But again, most of these changes are at the entry-level portion of Volvo's model range. At the top end, the flagship XC90 SUV returns virtually unchanged. Here are the updates for every 2024 Volvo model.
At the time of publication, it's looking more and more like the new, fully electric Volvo EX90 7-seat SUV will arrive for the 2025 model year.
The Volvo C40 Recharge gets essentially the same changes—minus a new wheel design—as the XC40 Recharge (detailed below). The single-motor rear-wheel-drive (RWD) C40 Recharge receives a new Volvo-developed electric motor and a more powerful 82-kWh battery for enhanced performance and a range of up to 297 miles. The twin-motor all-wheel-drive (AWD) C40 Recharge gets a new asynchronous front motor and a Volvo-developed rear motor while retaining the same 78-kWh battery for a range of up to 257 miles, up from 226 miles previously.
Elsewhere, the Plus trim level gets an air purifier, and the Ultimate trim gets cornering lights and pixel headlight technology while eliminating the headlight cleaners from its Climate package.
New exterior colors include Cloud Blue and Vapour Grey Metallic. Volvo no longer offers Black Stone and Thunder Grey Metallic.
Approaching a complete redesign in the next year or two, the S60 and S60 Recharge return for 2024 with no significant styling changes. Edits to the color palette include the addition of Vapour Grey Metallic and the deletion of Black Stone. Also, there is no longer an exterior Bright theme. The Dark theme appearance is now standard across the S60 range.
Within, there's a newly available Nappa Leather contour seat with open grid textile, which is standard on the Black Edition. The S60 B5 front-wheel-drive (FWD) model adds heated rear seats to its Climate package.
The Volvo S90 and S90 Recharge are carryover models for 2024. The only change relates to the exterior color palette. Volvo adds Vapour Grey Metallic and discontinues Black Stone and Thunder Grey Metallic.
For 2024, the Volvo V60 Cross Country is a carryover model. Changes to the color palette include the addition of Vapour Grey Metallic and the deletion of Black Stone. The only other notable difference is that the Power Operated Tailgate is now standard equipment.
Like the smaller V60, the Volvo V90 Cross Country is a carryover model for 2024. The only change is to the exterior color palette. Vapour Grey Metallic is new, while Black Stone and Thunder Grey Metallic are no longer available.
For 2024, the Volvo XC40 deletes its B4 FWD mild-hybrid model. From an equipment standpoint, the Core trim gets newly added inductive phone charging and keyless entry, while the Plus trim gets an air purifier, 19-inch wheels, and a 360-degree surround-view camera. The top-tier Ultimate trim receives cornering lights, pixel headlights technology, and 20-inch wheels. There's a choice of Bright or Dark exterior theme for the Plus and Ultimate grades.
On the electrified side, the Volvo XC40 Recharge benefits from enhancements to its powertrain. The single-motor RWD XC40 Recharge receives a new Volvo-developed electric motor and a more powerful 82-kWh battery for enhanced performance and a range of up to 293 miles. The twin-motor AWD XC40 Recharge receives a new asynchronous front motor and a Volvo-developed rear motor while retaining the same 78-kWh battery for a range of up to 254 miles—a 21-mile boost over the 2023 model year.
Volvo limits exterior styling changes to a new 19-inch wheel design for the Core and Plus trims. Inside, the Plus gets an air purifier, and the Ultimate gets cornering lights and pixel headlights technology.
New exterior colors for the 2024 XC40 and XC40 Recharge include Cloud Blue and Vapour Grey Metallic. No longer available are Black Stone and Thunder Grey Metallic.
The Volvo XC60 carries over into 2024, having deleted its B5 FWD mild-hybrid and B6 AWD mild-hybrid models.
Equipment-wise, the Plus trim receives an air purifier, and the Ultimate gets laminated side windows. In addition, the XC60 has an optional backrest massage feature in the front seats. The plug-in hybrid XC60 Recharge adds 20-inch 6-spoke black diamond-cut alloy wheels as part of the Ultimate trim.
On the outside, the XC60 gets a standard Dark theme treatment. Vapour Grey Metallic is a new color addition, while Black Stone is no longer in the palette.
As the brand's flagships, the 2024 Volvo XC90 and XC90 Recharge return as carryover models. Volvo limits feature content changes to adding standard side laminated windows on the Ultimate trim.
On the wheel side, the XC90 Recharge offers standard 21-inch 8-spoke black diamond-cut alloy wheels on the Ultimate trim. The Ultimate also has an optional 22-inch 5-double spoke black diamond-cut alloy wheel.
The exterior gets a standard Bright theme and the addition of Vapour Grey Metallic to the paint palette. Volvo no longer offers Thunder Grey Metallic.
