The introduction of an all-new E-Class is the headline-grabber from Mercedes-Benz for 2024. In an era that favors crossover SUVs, Mercedes has completely re-done its E-Class sedan and rationalized its coupe and convertible business with the new CLE-Class. The 2-door-oriented platform provides the basis for coupes and convertibles upon which the automaker previously based its C-Class and E-Class. At the same time, Mercedes-Benz refreshes its GLA, GLB, and GLE luxury SUVs and continues polishing and enhancing its EQ battery-electric lineup. Following is an overview of the most significant changes for the 2024 Mercedes-Benz model lineup.

The brawny Mercedes-Benz AMG GT gets a complete redesign for the 2024 model year. All-wheel drive (AWD) is in place to handle the horsepower, but the chassis is new. The GT has a longer wheelbase and is longer overall than the previous model. The car's cutting-edge technology includes its active suspension, rear-axle steering, and active aerodynamics. The GT uses the fully adaptable AMG Performance 4Matic+ AWD system for the first time. Under its hood are various iterations of the twin-turbocharged AMG 4.0-liter V8 engine.
The AMG GT's composite aluminum body structure enables a roomy interior with available 2+2 seating and ample luggage space. The 2024 Mercedes-AMG GT Coupe has two versions: the 577-hp AMG GT 63 Coupe and the 469-hp AMG GT 55 Coupe. Both should arrive at U.S. dealerships in the first half of 2024.
For 2024, Mercedes-AMG debuts its most potent SL model to date. The SL 63 S E Performance brings a combined 805 hp to the party courtesy of its handcrafted AMG 4.0-liter V8 Biturbo engine and AMG electric drive unit. Developing up to 1,047 pound-feet of torque, the hybrid system integrates a rear axle electric drive unit with a synchronous electric motor. The setup facilitates power distribution to the front wheels for enhanced traction when needed, improving handling and weight distribution. Thanks in part to its AWD system's ability to hook up, it offers electrifying acceleration of zero-to-60 mph in just 2.8 seconds. The AMG high-performance battery maximizes power output and fast energy draw, enabling the electric motor to produce 94 hp continuously and 201 hp at peak.
The sports car has eight AMG Dynamic Select drive programs so that the driver can dial up the desired driving experience. Regenerative braking offers four stages, including one-pedal driving.
The C-Class sedan got a complete re-do in 2022—recent in the Mercedes-Benz scheme of things—so the changes are minimal for 2024. The bread-and-butter C300 sedan adds standard niceties, including wireless device charging, a parking sensor system, and satellite radio. The new CLE-Class replaces the coupe and convertible.
The 2024 Mercedes-Benz CLA Coupe gets a revamped front fascia, updated LED lighting, and new paint colors and wheel designs. Mercedes upgrades the interior with dual digital displays, a Nappa leather-wrapped steering wheel, and three interior color choices. At the same time, the AMG Line introduces new MB-Tex/microfiber seats with recycled materials. The model uses the latest MBUX generation with varied display styles and improved telematics.
As cars lose traction to crossover SUVs, Mercedes-Benz has decided to rationalize its coupe and convertible business with the new CLE-Class. The automaker intends for the CLE to replace the C-Class and E-Class coupes and convertibles with a platform that essentially splits the difference. The CLE Coupe is scheduled for an early 2024 release in the U.S., and the CLE Cabriolet will follow for convertible fans.
With a long wheelbase and a distinctive profile, the 2-door offers among the largest dimensions in the midsize segment, ensuring ample room for passengers and cargo alike. The tech-forward interior features a 12.3-inch digital display, ambient lighting, and sport-designed seats. The "easy-entry" front seat unlocking offers relatively simple access to the rear seats.
Under the hood, the CLE Coupe offers mild hybrid powertrains, with a choice between 2.0-liter 4-cylinder and 3.0-liter 6-cylinder engines. As expected, Mercedes equips the CLE with extensive safety features and driver-assistance systems.
Mercedes heavily revised the sporty Mercedes-Benz CLS 4-door coupe in 2021 for the 2022 model year. If the model lives on as a 2024, it will be with minimal changes.
In a luxury market dominated by crossover SUVs, the all-new 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class is a classic 3-box sedan with a short front overhang, a lengthy hood, and a greenhouse set back toward the rear wheels. Echoing the style of the electric-powered Mercedes-EQ models, it sports LED headlamps with projection capabilities and a distinct day and night design.
Inside, the MBUX infotainment's Superscreen takes center stage, extending seamlessly across the dashboard. Floating control arrays and a sleek center console design enhance the interior's modern luxury look. Compared to the previous E-Class, the cabin has more space, especially for rear passengers.
The driving experience is refined, with options like air suspension and rear-axle steering for agile handling and stability. Safety remains a core focus, so the E-Class features advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and a robust safety structure.
Powering the E 350 4Matic is a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine that produces 255 hp plus an electric starter-generator contributing another 23 hp. The E 450 4Matic employs a turbocharged 3.0-liter 6-cylinder engine that produces 375 hp. It uses a similar starter-generator system, adding 23 hp.
The battery-electric EQB crossover SUV receives minor facial and equipment tweaks for 2024. Externally, the EQB's refreshed appearance mirrors its battery-electric EQ siblings. The grille features a redesigned front black panel with a star pattern, connected daytime running lights, and a revamped bumper. Interior updates include the latest steering wheel design with touch controls and an upgraded MBUX infotainment system with improved electric-vehicle (EV) charging features. The ADAS includes a new camera and new active lane-keeping assistance.
The big news regarding the Mercedes-Benz EQE sedan is that drivers in North America now have the option for enhanced performance with an over-the-air update from the Mercedes me connect Store. Mercedes says the update can boost power by up to 50 hp, improving acceleration by a full second from zero-to-60 mph. It elevates power from 288 hp to 348 hp for eligible EQE models. Customers can choose a one-time purchase for the vehicle's lifetime or opt for flexible monthly or yearly plans.
Mercedes expands its midsize electric SUV lineup with a new AMG EQE SUV variant. Called the first all-electric performance SUV from Mercedes-AMG, the new model has sportier styling, a more luxurious interior featuring a Dolby Atmos audio system, and a 2-motor electric drive system good for 677 hp.
Mercedes fortifies the AMG EQE SUV with variable performance AWD, a performance-tuned adaptive air suspension with roll stabilization control, and rear-wheel steering. It also has an AMG Sound Experience system, producing an audible soundtrack inside and outside the SUV.
Mercedes has not announced changes to the other EQE SUV lineup as of this writing.
Introduced in 2022, the Mercedes-Benz EQS sedan gets several notable changes for the 2024 model year. Perhaps the most significant is including the immense Hyperscreen infotainment system as a standard feature across all EQS trims. Beyond that, Mercedes says a revision in the battery chemistry will provide more usable range. Mercedes engineers also re-programmed the regenerative braking system to give it a better feel. The EQS 450+ and EQS 580 4Matic also receive increased power and torque.
Minor changes are the order of the day on the still-new Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV. In the interest of efficiency, Mercedes-Benz engineers have installed a front-axle disconnect feature that allows the EQS to use only its rear-axle motor in some situations. Installing a standard heat pump across the lineup should improve real-world range, especially in cold climates. And, as with the EQS Sedan, Mercedes revised the battery chemistry.
The Mercedes-Benz G-Class and Mercedes-AMG G-Class models remain unchanged as the automaker prepares to launch an all-new version as a 2025 model.
Mercedes-Benz gives its GLA SUV a mid-cycle revamp for 2024. The exterior boasts a redesigned radiator grille, a hood with subtle power domes, and a new front bumper, while the LED headlights and taillights bring a modern lighting signature. Inside, the GLA features a 10.25-inch driver display and a central multimedia display. A Nappa leather steering wheel is standard, and some trims offer expanded interior color and upholstery choices. The GLA's driver-assistance technologies are upgraded, with a more natural-feeling lane-keeping assistance system and advanced parking assistance with 360-degree visualization.
Under the hood, the GLA incorporates a mild-hybrid powertrain with a 48-volt system offering additional power for acceleration and enabling engine coasting for enhanced efficiency and smoother operation during braking and acceleration.
Mercedes-Benz revamps the GLB compact SUV for 2024 with new design elements and standard features. The more rugged exterior sports a redesigned front bumper, a more prominent radiator grille, and full-LED headlights and taillights. The upgraded interior boasts two 10.25-inch displays, a Nappa leather steering wheel, and turbine-look air vents. Standard equipment now includes LED headlights, high-beam assist, keyless go, and active steering assist. The GLB's powertrain now includes a new mild-hybrid system with a 48-volt onboard power supply.
The compact GLC SUV entered its second generation in 2023. For 2024, AMG gives it a pair of powerful electrified powertrains for the first time. The entry-level model is the GLC 43, which has a turbocharged 4-cylinder engine and mild-hybrid system. The GLC 63 adds a rear axle-mounted electric motor for more power and quicker acceleration. A new AMG GLC Coupe also joins the party. The new SUV coupe comes in GLC 43 and GLC 63 S E Performance configurations, both deriving massive power from a turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. The standard Mercedes-Benz GLC luxury crossover SUV is essentially unchanged for 2024.
The revised-for-2024 GLE offers new exterior styling, more technology, and a focus on electrification. Its revised interior borrows liberally from the Mercedes-Maybach GLS and S-Class. Its updated styling includes a refreshed front bumper, chrome-accented grille, and redesigned headlamps and taillights. The revised cabin boasts an updated steering wheel with touch controls, chrome-finished air vents, and an enhanced Burmester surround-sound system. Equipped with the latest MBUX infotainment system, the GLE offers intuitive controls, wireless connectivity, and a voice assistant ("Hey, Mercedes") capable of learning and responding to various vehicle-related queries.
Under the hood, the 2024 GLE embraces electrification with mild-hybrid powertrains featuring 48-volt technology and the introduction of the GLE 450e 4Matic plug-in hybrid (PHEV). The 450e offers a combined output of 381 hp and prioritizes electric driving.
For 2024, Mercedes-Benz updates its GLS, Maybach GLS 600, and AMG GLS 63 full-size SUVs. The refresh includes a new radiator grille, redesigned bumper, and altered LED taillights. In addition to the exterior changes, the 2024 GLS boasts revised interior trim options and the latest MBUX infotainment system.
The Off-Road mode in the MBUX system turns content such as gradient, lateral inclination, compass, and steering angle into a visual experience. The standard surround-view system with a 360-degree camera offers a "transparent hood" function for more confidence on the trail. The off-road engineering package, available for the GLS 580 4Matic, increases ground clearance and towing capacity. The Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 distinguishes itself with a unique grille design, 23-inch forged wheels, and ambient lighting projecting the Maybach pattern.
The most important news regarding the 2024 S-Class is the introduction of a new flagship model. The Mercedes-Benz S 580e 4Matic is the fourth-generation hybrid S-Class, starting at $127,750.
Its PHEV drivetrain employs a 3.0-liter 6-cylinder engine and a 28.6-kWh battery paired with a 148-hp electric motor to generate a combined output of 503 hp. With its extended electric-only driving range of 46 miles, it can often operate without using the combustion engine. According to Mercedes, the all-electric range is double that of its predecessor. The automaker makes a 9.6-kW charger standard, while an optional 60-kW DC fast charger enables rapid charging, achieving an 80-percent charge in just 20 minutes from 10 percent. Mercedes also revised the vehicle's battery position, and the luggage compartment offers a through-loading feature.
A new electric version of the popular Sprinter van debuts for 2024. Called the eSprinter, it comes in a high-roof body style with a 170-inch wheelbase, 488.1 cubic feet of cargo space, and a maximum payload rating of 2,624 pounds.
Standard (100 kW) and high-output (150 kW) motors are available for the RWD cargo van, which has a battery with 113 kWh of usable power and approximately 249 miles of range. Mercedes says the eSprinter can recharge from 10 to 80 percent in 42 minutes using a DC fast charger with 115 kW of power.
As of this writing, Mercedes has announced no changes to the standard Sprinter models.
