This year is a big one for GMC. The pickup truck and SUV maker has three major product launches in 2024, including a redesigned Acadia crossover SUV, the Hummer EV SUV, and the Sierra EV. The Sierra Heavy Duty lineup gets refreshed in 2024, and a more capable version of the Canyon midsize pickup arrives. Plenty is happening at GMC, so let’s dig into the details.

The 2024 Acadia gets a complete redesign, returning to the market as a larger model with more room for passengers and cargo. Size-wise, it’s again similar to its corporate cousins, the Buick Enclave and Chevrolet Traverse.
A turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine is the only power plant, making 328 horsepower and 326 pound-feet of torque. The new 2024 Acadia can tow up to 5,000 pounds.
An Acadia AT4 is available, featuring a lifted and off-road-tuned suspension, a more capable all-wheel-drive system, and all-terrain tires. The luxurious Acadia Denali is more upscale than ever.
Standard equipment includes an 11-inch digital instrumentation display and a long list of advanced driving assistance systems (ADAS). Upgrades include a 15-inch touchscreen infotainment system and Super Cruise, a hands-free highway driving assist system.
The Canyon AT4X model’s exclusive Baja driving mode adds a launch control system in 2024. In addition, a new AT4X AEV Edition is available. It adds another 1.5 inches of suspension lift for 12.2 inches of ground clearance, 35-inch mud-terrain tires wrapped around beadlock capable wheels, stamped steel front and rear bumpers, five boron steel skid plates, and auxiliary control switches.
A new 3X trim level arrives, offering up to 381 miles of driving range (359 miles with the Extreme Off-Road Package). In addition, a limited-production Omega Edition features exclusive Neptune Blue matte-finish paint, unique wheels, and plush interior carpeting.
For maximum overlanding satisfaction, a new EarthCruiser Upfit camper package is available. Made of carbon fiber housing, it fits in the truck’s cargo bed and features an insulated four-season pop-up roof and a full-size bed.
Amenities include a 13.5-gallon fresh water tank with filtered water, sink, induction cooking surface, refrigerator, and freezer. There’s an outdoor shower, too, along with solar panels on the roof and a 6-kWh lithium-ion battery for living seven days off the grid.
GMC bases the Hummer EV SUV on the Hummer EV pickup, but thanks to its shorter wheelbase, it boasts improved approach, breakover, and departure angles.
An available three-motor electric drive system supplies up to 830 hp and 11,500 lb-ft of torque. According to GMC, if you engage the Watts to Freedom setting, the Hummer EV SUV can accelerate to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds. Maximum range is about 300 miles.
Additional highlights include an optional Extreme Off-Road Package, four-wheel steering with a CrabWalk function, and an Extract Mode for challenging situations. Depending on the specification, this electric SUV provides 13 inches of suspension travel, 16 inches of ground clearance, and two feet of water-fording capability.
A Power Station generator is also available, capable of charging other EVs. In addition, the Hummer EV SUV features a 12.3-inch digital instrumentation panel, a 13.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system with trail-mapping capability, and a high-definition surround view camera.
The Infinity Roof equips the SUV with removable sky panels, and when you fold the back seat down, this Hummer provides up to 81.8 cubic feet of cargo space.
GMC renames the Sierra’s turbocharged 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine. Henceforth, it shall be called TurboMax. And to add consumer confidence in its longevity, it has a new five-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty.
Meanwhile, the Duramax turbodiesel engine is now standard in the off-road-ready Sierra AT4X. In addition, a new active exhaust system is optional with SLT, AT4, and Denali models.
Otherwise, changes are limited to new paint color and wheel design selections.
GMC’s latest electric pickup truck is the Sierra EV. It arrives in 2024 in pricey Denali Edition 1 specification with all the trimmings and a six-figure price tag to match. In 2025, more affordable Elevation and AT4 variants will go on sale.
The most unusual thing about the Sierra EV is its MultiPro Midgate design, which opens the cab to the cargo bed just like Chevy Avalanches of yore. Naturally, there is a front trunk (or frunk), but GMC prefers to call it a front eTrunk.
The Denali Edition 1 has an upscale interior, a panoramic sunroof, and a 16.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It also gives you up to 754 hp and 785 lb-ft of torque in Max Power mode, accelerating the electric truck to 60 mph in a claimed 4.5 seconds. GMC estimates a 9,500-pound towing capacity, 400 miles of range, and a recharging rate of 100 miles in 10 minutes when using a 350-kW DC fast charger.
In addition, the Sierra EV offers 10.2-kW of exportable power, an adjustable air suspension, and four-wheel steering with CrabWalk. Super Cruise is also on the menu, providing hands-free highway driving capability.
GMC refreshes the Sierra 2500HD and 3500HD for 2024. New front styling, wheel designs, and paint colors signal the updates, and new interior designs debut with SLE trim or higher. The lineup also expands with new AT4X and Denali Ultimate trim levels, each with more luxurious interiors.
The standard 6.6-liter gasoline V8 engine pairs with a new 10-speed automatic transmission, while the Duramax 6.6-liter turbodiesel V8 supplies more power across the rev range. The Duramax delivers 470 hp at 2,800 rpm and 975 lb-ft at 1,600 rpm, cranking out 25 percent more low-end torque than previously.
Available features include a 12.3-inch digital instrumentation panel, a 13.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 15-inch head-up display, and new trailering technologies. Also, there are more standard and available safety features.
GMC’s compact crossover SUV is available in new paint colors, and a new Pro Safety Plus Package is optional for the SLE and SLT (standard on the AT4). It includes blind-spot warning and rear cross-traffic warning systems, and rear parking sensors.
GMC announced no changes to the 2024 Yukon and Yukon XL full-size SUV lineup. A substantial refresh is expected for the 2025 model year.
