The 2023 model year is a relatively quiet one for GMC. That said, an all-new Canyon midsize pickup debuts, and there's a new range-topping trim level for the full-size Yukon and Yukon XL SUVs. Following is a rundown of all the changes to every 2023 GMC truck and SUV model.

The 3-row, 7-passenger Acadia midsize crossover SUV carries over for 2023 with no significant changes. A leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio and cruise controls is standard on the SLT trim and above, and three new extra-cost paint colors debut: Volcanic Red Tintcoat, Ultra Blue Metallic, and Sterling Metallic.
GMC unveils an all-new, third-generation Canyon midsize pickup truck for the 2023 model year, both taller and wider than the previous model. A new AT4X off-road performance trim level debuts and all versions get refreshed styling, new tech, and more safety features.
Among the design changes, GMC updates the Canyon's exterior styling to better resemble the full-size Sierra 1500. GMC completely refreshes the Canyon's interior, as well. Each 2023 Canyon trim level comes with a unique interior theme.
The standard 11.3-inch infotainment touchscreen includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone mirroring. An 8-inch partially digital gauge cluster is standard; an 11-inch fully digital cluster is available. There's also a 6.3-inch head-up display.
Like Chevrolet did with the all-new Colorado, GMC streamlines the Canyon's powertrain lineup for 2023. Now, every Canyon comes with a 2.7-liter 4-cylinder engine. Horsepower varies from 237-310, depending on the application.
The GMC Hummer EV Pickup will return in 2023. However, no information on the changes to GMC's all-electric truck was available as we prepared this article for publication. Because it debuted for the 2022 model year, changes for 2023 are likely minimal. In the meantime, you can get the details on the forthcoming 2024 GMC Hummer EV SUV, set to debut in early 2023.
GMC follows up its thorough refresh of the 2022 Sierra 1500 with more updates for 2023. A new AT4X AEV Edition debuts, taking the Sierra's off-road abilities to their highest-ever level, according to GMC. The new AT4X AEV has various structural and aesthetic upgrades to enhance the truck's off-road performance and visual appeal.
In other Sierra 1500 news, a new 3.0-liter Duramax turbodiesel engine delivers 10 percent more horsepower and 7.6 percent more torque than the previous year, according to GMC. Also, the Denali Ultimate trim gets new 22-inch 7-spoke ultra-bright machined wheels, and buyers can now specify the Graphite Edition package on the Pro trim. Additionally, three new extra-cost paint colors are available: Sterling Metallic, Volcanic Red Tintcoat, and Deep Bronze Metallic.
Changes to the big GMC Sierra 2500HD and 3500HD are nil for 2023. Fear not, however. Not much has changed on the Sierra HD since an all-new version of the GMC heavy-duty truck debuted for the 2020 model year. The lack of updates is understandable as the dedicated truck brand prepares to launch an all-new 2024 GMC Sierra HD.
Following a significant refresh for the 2022 model year, changes to the GMC Terrain for 2023 are minimal. From a mechanical standpoint, output from the standard turbocharged 1.5-liter 4-cylinder engine increases to 175, and the brakes benefit from electronic power assist. Design changes include the debut of a new Denali Black Diamond Edition and restyled 19-inch gloss black wheels for the Elevation Edition. Finally, three new extra-cost paint colors join the palette: Sterling Metallic, Volcanic Red Tintcoat, and Deep Bronze Metallic (Denali only).
For those of you who thought the Denali was the ultimate Yukon, guess again. Now, that title belongs to the, uh, Denali Ultimate. Indeed, the new range-topping trim brings luxurious interior finishes, more standard tech, and standout styling to the big Yukon SUV. It has standard 4-wheel drive and is available with either a 6.2-liter gas V8 or a 3.0-liter turbodiesel engine. The new Yukon Denali Ultimate will also have available Super Cruise hands-free technology.
Other changes to the 2023 Yukon and Yukon XL lineup are minimal. Enhanced automatic parking assist is now available on the Denali (standard on Denali Ultimate), and polished aluminum and ultra-bright machined 22-inch wheels are available on SLE, SLT, and Denali trims. New extra-cost paint colors include Titanium Rush Metallic, Frosted Pine Metallic, Volcanic Red Tintcoat, and Sterling Metallic.
