With sporty styling and performance to match, the all-new 2026 Subaru Uncharted is the latest addition to Subaru's electric vehicle (EV) lineup.
Earlier in 2025, Subaru unveiled the next generation of its first EV, the Solterra, along with an all-new electric crossover SUV, the Trailseeker. Now, the automaker is introducing a compact crossover EV with the new 2026 Subaru Uncharted.
When it arrives in early 2026, the new Subaru Uncharted will be the smallest EV in the Japanese brand's lineup. Similar in size to the popular Subaru Crosstrek, the new Uncharted features a sporty design with bold fender flares, a sleek roofline, and available 20-inch wheels. Signature lighting, along with the illuminated logo in the grille, carries over from its electric siblings to the Uncharted.
A look inside the Uncharted's cabin shows a modern design that matches the styling of the Solterra and Trailseeker, but the new model has exclusive orange accents. Key features include a large 14-inch touchscreen display and a spacious center console with dual wireless phone chargers. The Uncharted also has a unique steering wheel with a flat top and bottom, along with a digital gauge cluster set back toward the windshield.
The 2026 Uncharted will be available in three trim levels: Premium FWD, Sport, and GT. Expect most Uncharted crossovers to come as the Sport or GT models, which feature a powerful 338-horsepower dual-motor electric drivetrain, Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive (AWD) with X-Mode, and an estimated range of around 290 miles. Subaru also plans to sell a limited number of front-wheel-drive Premium trims, which have a single motor delivering 221 hp and a range exceeding 300 miles.
The Subaru Uncharted features a new NACS charging port, allowing owners to charge its 74.7-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery at over 15,000 Tesla Supercharger stations. Capable of charging at speeds up to 150 kilowatts (kW), the Uncharted’s battery can reach an 80-percent charge in about 30 minutes. The built-in 11-kW charger also enables overnight charging with a Level 2 home charger.
Like the rest of Subaru's EVs, the Uncharted is the result of a partnership with Toyota. However, the Uncharted should stand out from its Toyota cousin with a unique Subaru-tuned suspension and extensive chassis development to provide the grip and handling expected of a Subaru, especially when venturing off the beaten path.
With its compact size and potent dual-motor powertrain, the 2026 Subaru Uncharted promises to be an enjoyable vehicle to drive. When it launches in the spring of 2026, it will compete directly with established models like the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6, and the Volvo EX40. Still, based on available information, the new Uncharted is expected to be a strong contender, especially among Subaru fans seeking off-road adventures.
