The 2026 Hyundai Ioniq 6 N sedan packs the sort of extreme power, reengineered chassis, exciting simulated engine sounds, Performance Blue Pearl paint, and other elements that made the Ioniq 5 N SUV a high-performance star.

The Ioniq 6 N has two motors—one for each axle, providing all-wheel drive (AWD)—delivering a combined output of 601 horsepower or a quick 10-second boost to 641 hp when using the “N Grin Boost” function. This matches the Ioniq 5 N’s motor output.
Also included is the N Active Sound + system, which gives drivers a choice of three simulated powertrain noises, including the motorsport-inspired “Ignition” mode that mimics a gas engine. Hyundai says it has improved the system since its debut in the Ioniq 5 N. Alongside it is N e-Shift, which simulates gear shifts. This concept may seem silly, but having driven (and wildly enjoyed) the Ioniq 5 N, I can confirm that it’s delightful.
Hyundai redesigned the battery management system to better handle more extreme demands, such as repeated launches or long track sessions. The battery’s maximum capacity is 84 kilowatt hours (kWh), and it can charge from 10 to 80 percent in 18 minutes using a 350-kW charger.
Hyundai will announce the Ioniq 6 N’s electric range later. For some perspective, though, the 2025 Ioniq 5 N, which also has an 84-kWh battery and the same output as the Ioniq 6 N, goes 221 miles on a charge. The ranges of comparable Ioniq 5 and 6 models vary widely depending on trim, motor configuration, and wheel size, so it’s difficult to determine how much, if any, improvement the Ioniq 6 N might have.

Hyundai states that it completely redesigned the standard Ioniq 6’s suspension geometry and reengineered the chassis to improve the midsize sedan’s handling. The automaker also added adjustable dampers to ensure comfort on the street and responsive handling on back roads or the track. To further enhance handling and driver control, the N Torque Distribution system offers 11 different levels of front and rear torque distribution.
If you want to be a bit less precise when cornering, the N Drift Optimizer feature makes it easier and more manageable to initiate tail-out slides.
From a visual standpoint, the new N model builds on the concepts previewed by the standard 2026 Ioniq 6. The lower sections of the door sills and fascias are blacked out with N’s signature orangey-red trim outlining the bottom of the car. A swan-neck spoiler, where the struts are mounted on top of the wing instead of supporting it from below, is likely the most obvious addition. The fenders are also wider.
The interior features the same functionality and technology upgrades planned for other Ioniq 6 models for 2026. Unique elements include special Performance Blue accents, and a steering wheel and seats that resemble the Ioniq 5 N’s.

The Ioniq 5 N is the most comparable, with the mechanically related Kia EV6 GT in terms of performance. Both are crossovers, though. The BMW i4 M50 and Tesla Model 3 Performance are likely the closest sedans in size and acceleration, and carry their own chassis enhancements over other models. How they all compare in price remains uncertain until the Ioniq 6 N’s pricing is announced.
