Mercedes-Benz's best-selling model is getting a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version with a 54-mile electric driving range. The 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLC 350e 4Matic SUV is on sale now, starting at $61,050, and it's joining a growing list of small luxury plug-in options. Currently, BMW, Genesis, and Porsche do not offer PHEV versions of their smallest SUVs; however, there are all-electric versions out there, too.

As with the gas-powered GLC, Mercedes-Benz offers the 2025 GLC 350e SUV in Standard, Exclusive, and Pinnacle trims. All have Mercedes' 4Matic all-wheel drive (AWD) system. There are 11 exterior colors, 13 interior upholstery packages, and six unique wheel designs. Mercedes also offers the GLC 350e with a blacked-out Night package or sporty AMG Line looks.

Besides the charge port, the new GLC PHEV looks nearly identical to other GLC models. The top Pinnacle trim gets the most standard features, including digital projection lighting and heated acoustic glass.

Mercedes redesigned the GLC with the company's curved design language and the latest MBUX infotainment system. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard on all plug-in models. Upgrading to the Exclusive trim gets buyers a Burmester 3D sound system, more ambient lighting, and a surround view camera.

A turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and electric motor that receives electrons from a 24.8-kWh battery powers the GLC PHEV. Together, they produce 313 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque. According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the new GLC PHEV gets up to 64 MPGe. Mercedes says that when using the electric motor alone, the GLC 350e will travel up to 54 miles. Plug into a DC fast charger and recharge in 30 minutes. The plug-in GLC also has an air suspension that raises and lowers the SUV.
The GLC 350e PHEV comes standard with parking assist and a mobile charging cable. The midgrade Exclusive trim adds a surround view camera that helps with parking and acts as a security system. A head-up display and digital projection headlights come when buyers opt for the top-of-the-line Pinnacle trim.
Many luxury automakers have electric offerings for their mainstream models, but few offer a PHEV version, especially with 54 miles of range. You can't get a BMW X3 with any form of electrification, and the Porsche Macan only has an internal combustion engine option for now. Audi and Volvo offer plug-in versions of their small SUVs, but those can't travel as far on electricity as this new GLC PHEV.
