The 2026 Toyota Camry introduces a new Nightshade Edition to its lineup, blending blacked-out styling with Toyota's fifth-generation hybrid system that now powers every Camry. With available all-wheel drive (AWD), up to a reported 51 mpg, and a new Dark Cosmos paint option, the Camry remains a staple in the midsize sedan market.

Toyota expands the Camry lineup to five trim levels for 2026: LE, SE, Nightshade Edition, XLE, and XSE. All Camry sedans are now exclusively hybrid—buyers can choose between front-wheel drive (FWD) and AWD.
The Nightshade Edition features a sportier appearance with black accents, a mesh grille, gloss black badges, exclusive 19-inch wheels, and a sport-tuned suspension borrowed from the SE and XSE. It is available in three colors: Ice Cap, Supersonic Red, and Midnight Black Metallic.
A new Dark Cosmos paint color also makes its debut in 2026. LED headlights and taillights continue the bold hammerhead design language from the latest generation.
All 2026 Camrys are powered by Toyota's fifth-generation hybrid system, combining a 2.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine with electric motors and a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). Front-wheel-drive Camrys deliver 225 horsepower, while AWD versions include a rear-mounted electric motor generator, enhancing traction and increasing the total output to 232 hp. According to Toyota, the Camry can achieve up to 51 mpg combined.
Handling receives an upgrade in 2026 with MacPherson strut front suspension and multi-link rear suspension, while SE, Nightshade, and XSE trims are tuned for sharper performance. Selectable Normal, Eco, and Sport drive modes give drivers more control over their ride setup.
The interior remains essentially unchanged. However, trim-specific finishes differentiate the lineup. Synthetic leather upholstery with bold accents is standard on the SE and Nightshade trims, while the XSE grade features perforated leather. In the luxury XLE, leather is paired with Dinamica microfiber to enhance the premium feel. Other cabin updates include available heated and ventilated seats, along with a quieter interior on higher trims.
The XLE and XSE trims feature upgraded digital gauge clusters, increasing from a standard 7-inch display to a 12.3-inch screen. Additionally, an optional 10-inch head-up display is available for these trims. Both the 8-inch and 12.3-inch infotainment systems come with standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone mirroring. A nine-speaker JBL premium audio system is available on higher trims.
Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 comes standard, including all the advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) features that are now common in new vehicles. The Premium Plus package adds traffic jam assist, lane change assist, and front cross-traffic warning.

The 2026 Toyota Camry faces tough competition in the midsize sedan market, with main competitors including the Honda Accord, Hyundai Sonata, Kia K5, and Nissan Altima.
With Toyota's reputation for reliability, a standard hybrid powertrain providing excellent fuel economy, AWD availability, and an extensive trim range, the Camry stands out as a top competitor.
