In an exciting revelation during GM's quarterly earnings conference call today, Mary Barra, GM Chair and CEO, announced plans for a next-generation Chevrolet Bolt. Barra stated, "Our customers love today’s Bolt. It has been delivering record sales and some of the highest customer satisfaction and loyalty scores in the industry." She also emphasized the Bolt's role in "conquest sales" for both GM and Chevrolet.
The forthcoming Bolt will leverage GM's rapid technological advancements, specifically the Ultium and Ultifi technologies, to quicken its return to the market. The updated Bolt will embody GM's 'winning with simplicity' ethos, requiring significantly lower engineering expense and capital investment than a brand-new program.
Specifics about the timeline and details of the next-generation Bolt are still under wraps and will be shared in the coming weeks. The refreshed Bolt will expand Chevrolet's burgeoning portfolio of all-electric vehicles, joining the ranks of the Silverado EV, Blazer EV, and Equinox EV, all set to hit the market this year.
Since its debut in 2017, the Chevrolet Bolt has been a trailblazer in the EV market, offering customers the first mass-produced EV with a long range at a very affordable price. The Bolt EV and Bolt EUV have witnessed their strongest sales in the first half of 2023. Notably, the Bolt has cemented brand loyalty, with 80% of Bolt owners staying with Chevy and nearly 70% of customers trading in a non-GM vehicle for the Bolt.
