The 2027 Ford Bronco RTR is a high-performance version of the automaker’s rugged SUV. Developed in partnership with Formula Drift champion Vaughn Gittin Jr.’s RTR tuning company, the Bronco RTR is engineered to deliver high speed thrills when the pavement ends.
Look out, sand dunes: There is a new Ford Bronco in town. The 2027 Ford Bronco RTR will debut at the 2026 Detroit Auto Show. While the Bronco Raptor remains the model’s top dog, the RTR’s equipment list should entice off-road enthusiasts with a need for speed.
The Bronco RTR features a high clearance suspension and a wider, more aggressive track than the Badlands or Heritage Edition versions currently offer. The standard Bronco RTR rides on 33-inch all-terrain tires. As with other trim levels in the Bronco lineup, opting for the available Sasquatch package ups the tire size to 35 inches. Along with the larger tires, the Sasquatch RTR features Fox internal bypass shocks, similar to the ones found on the original F-150 Raptor.
All Bronco RTR SUVs feature anti-lag technology that keeps the turbocharger spooled and the full power of Ford’s EcoBoost engine available at the driver’s command. Additional cooling comes from a 1,000-watt cooling fan borrowed from the Bronco Raptor, and RTR founder Vaughn Gittin Jr. says his team also reinforced the steering to ensure the Bronco RTR is ready for dirt, sand, rocks, or whatever drivers throw at it.
To help the Bronco RTR stand out, it features 17-inch beadlock-capable wheels, a graphics package, and a unique grille treatment, all finished in the company’s signature Hyper Lime green. The sheet metal is finished in Avalanche Gray, the same color as the forthcoming Mustang RTR, which is scheduled to debut in summer 2026.
The announcement makes no mention of additional power, so RTR buyers should be able to choose between Ford’s 300-horsepower, turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine and the more robust 330-hp, twin-turbocharged 2.7-liter V6. Transmission options should also remain the same, though given the RTR’s enthusiast nature, we expect many buyers to opt for the six-speed manual over the 10-speed automatic. Ford’s 418-hp, twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 will remain exclusive to the Bronco Raptor.
Ford says the Bronco RTR pricing will undercut the Bronco Badlands with the Sasquatch package. Since the RTR order books will open in the fall and sales will not start until January 2027, assigning a specific number is difficult. For perspective, a two-door 2026 Bronco Badlands with the Sasquatch package currently starts just north of $57,000.
The Ford Bronco’s biggest rival remains the venerable Jeep Wrangler, and the RTR’s price point should put it squarely in line with the latter’s beefy Rubicon variants. However, because the RTR focuses on high speed performance and the Jeep on low-speed obstacle crawling, we expect RTR buyers to be customers seeking Raptor performance at a lower price. As a result, the RTR’s primary competition will likely come from other Bronco trims, such as the Outer Banks or Badlands.
