Aimed squarely at turbocharged Mustang enthusiasts, the 2026 Ford Mustang RTR package incorporates patented anti-turbocharger lag technology along with suspension and engine-cooling components from the Mustang GT and Dark Horse to create what Ford says is the most fun-to-drive turbocharged Mustang ever.

To create the Mustang RTR, Ford teamed up with Formula Drift champion Vaughn Gittin Jr., founder of RTR Vehicles. The automaker says this is only the second time in the pony car’s history, dating back to 1964, that it has partnered with a third party to produce a performance Mustang directly from the factory.
The new Mustang RTR, which stands for “Ready to Rock,” incorporates performance upgrades and appearance enhancements for the fastback (coupe) body style, available exclusively on the base Mustang EcoBoost with the High package or Mustang EcoBoost Premium.
As part of the Mustang RTR package, Ford makes several performance upgrades to the sports car’s mechanical components. First, the automaker borrowed patented turbocharger anti-lag technology from the Ford GT race car, which Ford says sharpens throttle response from the 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine. The RTR also features an active-valve performance exhaust with four driver-selectable modes.
Regarding suspension upgrades, the RTR comes with Brembo brakes from the Mustang GT Performance Pack. It also includes front and rear sway bars and a rear subframe from the Mustang Dark Horse. Several upgrades are aimed explicitly at improving drifting, such as a custom tune for the stability control system’s Track mode and the available MagneRide dampers. An electronic drift brake is also included in the package.

Beyond the mechanical upgrades, the Mustang RTR package also includes numerous appearance enhancements. The front fascia is borrowed from the Mustang GT; it sits beneath a unique grille with RTR badging and illuminated “nostrils.” Additionally, the hood, rocker panels, and rear quarter panels receive special RTR Signature Tarnished Dark Anodized graphics. Unique badges adorn the decklid and fenders, and the RTR sports a Tarnished Dark Anodized rear spoiler from the Mustang GT Performance Pack.
The Mustang RTR features 19x9.5-inch Tarnished Dark Anodized wheels. These wheels surround Brembo brake calipers painted black or, if the buyer chooses the Hyper Lime Exterior package, bright green. The Hyper Lime package also adds bright green accents to the Tarnished Dark Anodized body graphics.

Inside, the Mustang RTR features Hyper Lime accents on the seats. The distinctive stitching also decorates the dashboard, center console, door pockets, and drift brake lever. However, Ford provides an option to replace the Hyper Lime threads with standard stitching on the upholstery and the drift brake lever at no extra cost.
The 2026 Ford Mustang RTR package will be available beginning in the summer of 2026. At the time of writing, Ford has not announced pricing for the package.

With the Chevrolet Camaro and Dodge Challenger recently leaving the market, the Mustang lost its two main rivals. While V8 Mustangs compete with the BMW M4 and Chevrolet Corvette, the EcoBoost-equipped ‘Stang’ more closely compares to the BMW 4 Series, Nissan Z, and Toyota GR Supra. Some buyers might also consider the Subaru BRZ and Toyota GR86.
