Porsche has expanded the lineup of the all-new, all-electric Macan with two new variants: the Macan 4S and a base rear-wheel-drive (RWD) model. The electric Macan, built on the German automaker's new 800-volt Premium Platform Electric (PPE) electric-vehicle (EV) platform, initially came in two versions at launch: the 402-horsepower, all-wheel-drive (AWD) Macan 4 and the $107,000 Macan Turbo.
Now, Porsche has introduced two additional variants to make the Macan EV more accessible and give buyers more choices. After all, the Macan has long been the best-selling model in Porsche's lineup. The Macan starts at $77,295, and the 4S starts at $86,895, including the $1,995 destination charge.
The new RWD Macan will serve as the entry point to the electric crossover. It comes standard with air springs and adaptive dampers. It has a 100-kilowatt-hour (kWh) battery pack and an electric motor on the rear axle, making 355 hp.
The new 509-hp Macan 4S has a dual-motor system with a more robust rear motor than the Macan 4 and fits between it and the Macan Turbo in the lineup. Like the other two Macan versions, the 4S has Porsche's electronically controlled traction system, along with air springs, adaptive dampers, rear-axle steering, and Porsche's torque-vectoring system.
Porsche stayed closely to the design and overall shape of the Macan with an internal combustion engine when working on the electric version, and the automaker will continue to sell both versions. The Macan Electric has a longer wheelbase and incorporates features that reflect the appearance of Porsche's other EV model, the four-door Taycan sedan.
All 2025 Porsche Macans have a new Slate Grey Neo exterior color available and a new 20-inch wheel design that customers can select. Porsche is also adding a new off-road design package. It adds a unique front bumper for extra clearance, which can be a standalone option on the Macan, Macan 4, and Macan 4S, and larger 21-inch wheels that will make the car less off-road capable. Buyers can order it with details in Vesuvius Grey or color-matched to the car's exterior color.
The electrified Macan ushers in a new generation for the brand's best-selling SUV, and with it comes a significant digitization of the interior that looks familiar to other new Porsches. A curved 12.6-inch display and 10.9-inch infotainment screen front the dashboard that has communicative ambient lighting. There's also an optional display for the passenger, and the head-up display has augmented reality for navigation.
The Macan has up to 18 cubic feet of storage space behind the rear seat; folding it increases the space to 46.5 cubic feet. There's also additional storage under the hood.
The 2025 Porsche Macan is the first EV to use the company's new 800-volt PPE architecture. The new base-model Macan uses a 100-kWh battery that sends juice to a rear-axle-mounted electric motor that produces 335 hp and 415 pound-feet of torque under regular operation but increases to 355 hp with an overboost function. Porsche claims it'll hit 60 mph in 5.4 seconds on its way to a 136-mph top speed. Without the weight of an electric motor on the front axle, Porsche says the Macan sheds 243 pounds.
The Macan 4 has a dual-motor AWD setup that provides up to 402 hp and 479 pound-feet of torque with the time-limited overboost function. Porsche squeezes out a few extra horses from the new Macan 4S's rear-axle motor, making a total output of 442 hp and up to 509 hp and 578 pound-feet of torque when using the launch-control system's overboost. According to Porsche, the Macan 4S will reach 60 mph in 3.9 seconds when using all the launch-prep systems and hit 149 mph.
Both new Macan variants have air springs that raise and lower the SUV. They also have Porsche's latest dual-valve adaptive dampers. The Macan 4S adds Porsche's torque-vectoring system and rear-axle steering for enhanced handling, while rear-axle steering is an option on the base model.
Porsche claims that the PPE's 800-volt architecture allows the Macan and Macan 4S to charge from 10 to 80 percent in around 21 minutes.
Porsche's infotainment system now uses Android-based software, running on a 10.9-inch touchscreen. Users can override the system with standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There's also a digital voice assistant that activates when you say, "Hey, Porsche."
All 2025 Macans include an adaptive cruise control system with lane-centering assistance, providing Level 2 semi-autonomous driving support.
While Porsche is the first brand to use the parent company's new PPE electric platform, the Audi Q6 E-tron will shortly follow. The base Porsche Macan costs around $75,000, and the Turbo version is over $105,000. However, there are more affordable options. The Genesis Electrified GV70 and Tesla Model Y have more space and lower prices.
