Lexus is making significant updates to its flagship LX SUV, and a hybrid powertrain isn’t even the most exciting development. The new LX hybrid—the 2025 Lexus LX 700h—is getting an exclusive Overtrail off-road-ready version, making it a standout option in the hyper-popular luxury full-size SUV segment.

The 2025 Lexus LX lineup includes five trim levels: Premium, F Sport Handling, Luxury, Ultra Luxury, and Overtrail. The SUV has two or three rows of seats, a generous safety and technology package, and a twin-turbocharged V6 hybrid powertrain. Its 8,000-pound towing capacity makes it even more capable.

The 2025 Lexus LX is easily recognizable. Its iconic spindle grille and boxy proportions highlight its exterior design. The full-size SUV is available in seven colors, including the new Earth option.
The Overtrail trim is adventure-ready, both in terms of aesthetics and equipment. It features dark exterior trim, black fender flares, 33-inch all-terrain tires, 18-inch wheels, and reinforced front skid plates, all of which make it well-suited for off-road conditions while maintaining a sophisticated appearance.

Inside, the 2025 Lexus LX offers a spacious and inviting cabin. Lexus adorns the interior with high-quality materials, semi-aniline leather upholstery, and up to five customizable massage options for front-seat passengers. The Overtrail trim gives LX Hybrid buyers the option of two-row seating, increasing cargo space for more gear for camping or overlanding.
The dual-touchscreen infotainment setup includes a 12.3-inch primary display and a 7-inch secondary screen for easy access to navigation and entertainment functions. This advanced infotainment system allows users to easily control various settings, ensuring that drivers and passengers remain connected.
Additional features include a head-up display, multiple USB-C ports, a center console cool box, power third-row seats that fold flat, all-weather floor liners, and a cargo shelf system designed to accommodate the battery placement in the new hybrid model.

The 2025 Lexus LX 700h’s powertrain comprises a twin-turbocharged 3.4-liter V6 engine, a 10-speed automatic transmission, and a nickel-metal hydride battery. The combination produces 457 horsepower and 583 pound-feet of torque. The SUV achieves an EPA-estimated 20 mpg combined.
The LX 700h can tow up to 8,000 pounds, and the Overtrail trim features front and rear locking differentials and a 2.4-kilowatt AC inverter for enhanced off-road performance and power.

Lexus equips all 2025 LX SUVs with the latest advanced driver assistance systems. The Lexus Safety System+ 3.0, now standard across the LX lineup, includes features such as forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, lane-centering assistance, and adaptive cruise control. Lexus also offers a safe-exit assistance system that detects traffic approaching from the rear and will prevent the door from opening if it senses danger.
On the technology front, the 2025 LX’s infotainment system is robust, featuring wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, cloud navigation with real-time updates, and a voice-activated assistant for accomplishing various tasks. Remote Connect allows drivers to manage vehicle settings effortlessly via a mobile app.
An optional 25-speaker Mark Levinson premium audio system gives passengers an immersive surround-sound listening experience.
In the highly competitive full-size luxury SUV segment, the 2025 Lexus LX faces formidable rivals such as the Audi Q7, BMW X7, Cadillac Escalade, Infiniti QX80, Jeep Grand Wagoneer, Land Rover Range Rover, Lincoln Navigator, and Mercedes-Benz GLS. Each competitor brings unique strengths, but the LX stands out with its hybrid powertrain, sophisticated safety features, and unique blend of luxury and rugged capability.
