With the limited-edition 2025 Jeep Wrangler 4xe Backcountry, the iconic go-anywhere and do-anything SUV blends plug-in hybrid power with next-level off-roading while bumping up the tech and refinement.
Jeep has a long history of building low-volume special-edition models to pique buyer interest and boost sales. The latest example is the 2025 Jeep Wrangler 4xe Backcountry. Based on the already capable Wrangler 4xe Sahara plug-in hybrid (PHEV), the Backcountry brings even more off-road capability while adding a touch of refinement.
The new Wrangler 4xe Backcountry features a grille guard, steel bumpers, and rock rails for enhanced off-roading ability and protection. It rides on unique 20-inch wheels wrapped with General Grabber all-terrain tires. Jeep also includes a trailer tow package as standard equipment for the Backcountry.
In addition to its enhanced capability, the Backcountry looks the part, with a three-piece body-color hardtop and unique decals for the hood, fenders, and tailgate. Inside, all-weather floor mats help to keep things tidy. Built-in auxiliary switches allow buyers to power specialized off-road equipment.
While the Wrangler 4xe Backcountry is, first and foremost, an off-road adventure vehicle, Jeep endows the SUV with several technologies to enhance the experience, both on the trail and on the road home. Built-in Adventure Guides by Trails Offroad assist with trail planning (standard on Sahara), while a front TrailCam (optional on Sahara) helps you to navigate particularly challenging terrain.
Back at camp, the Jeep Power Box draws power from the SUV’s battery pack and serves as a generator to help power small appliances and accessories. Meanwhile, the nine-speaker Alpine audio system provides the soundtrack. Both items are available on the Sahara as part of the optional Technology Group but are standard on the new Backcountry.
Available to order now at Jeep retailers nationwide, the 2025 Jeep Wrangler 4xe Backcountry price is $66,185, including the $1,895 destination charge. Jeep is limiting 4xe Backcountry production to just 5,800 units for North America to maintain exclusivity.
As if the Wrangler wasn’t already an off-road all-star, with the new 4xe Backcountry, Jeep further enhances the SUV’s capabilities while adding a touch of extra refinement along the way, creating an even more compelling package.
Chief rivals to the new Wrangler 4xe Backcountry include other specialized off-road compact and midsize SUVs such as the Ford Bronco Badlands and the Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro and Trailhunter. If you want to go fully electric, the Rivian R1S is an alternative, though it doesn’t possess the same hard-core off-road chops as the Wrangler.
