Hyundai has refreshed its best-selling model, the Tucson, for 2025. The new 2025 Hyundai Tucson is a family-friendly daily driver with significant cabin upgrades, a new digital display, and more standard safety features than the previous version.
The 2025 Tucson carries over the same trim level lineup as last year. The conventionally powered Tucson is available in SE, XRT, N Line, and Limited trims. The Tucson Hybrid comes in SEL and Blue trims, while the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version is available in SEL and Limited specification.
The 2025 Hyundai Tucson has two different powertrain options. The internal combustion engine (ICE) versions use a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The Hybrid and PHEV employ a turbocharged 1.6-liter engine combined with an electric motor that works with a six-speed automatic. Front-wheel drive (FWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) are available.
The Tucson's 2025 model-year refresh includes some minor exterior changes. Updated front and rear fascias are more prominent, and there are now eight daytime running lights, which also get bigger. Hyundai says the SUV’s redesigned grille gives it a more rugged look.
The most significant changes to the 2025 Hyundai Tucson appear inside. First and foremost, there’s an updated digital display and space-conscious design. A new panoramic curved display on higher trim levels includes two 12.3-inch screens, housing the digital instrument cluster and infotainment display.
A large, open dashboard tray is to the right of the panoramic display and above the glovebox. The center console includes a selection of physical buttons and knobs that control radio volume, audio tuning, optional heated seats, and climate controls, among other things.
The center console has two cupholders, multiple USB ports, a wireless device charging pad, and a large storage bin. Hyundai redesigned it to be more convenient and easily accessible for the driver.
A 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine powers ICE versions of the 2025 Hyundai Tucson. It is connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission and produces 187 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque.
If you prefer more flexibility, Hybrid and PHEV versions feature a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine and a 47.7-kilowatt (kW) electric motor. Combined, it provides 231 total system hp and 258 pound-feet of torque. The Tucson Hybrid employs a six-speed automatic transmission.
The plug-in hybrid Tucson offers even more power thanks to its 72-kW electric motor. Output measures 268 hp and 258 pound-feet of torque, and the PHEV also uses a six-speed automatic transmission.
Front-wheel drive is standard on all ICE versions of the 2025 Tucson, while AWD is standard on all Hybrid/PHEV trim levels and optional on all ICE trims.
As of this writing, the Environmental Protection Agency has yet to rate the fuel efficiency of the 2025 Hyundai Tucson. However, since the powertrains are carryover, expect mpg estimates to be similar to the 2024 model.
Hyundai adds new safety features to the 2025 Tucson, including a driver monitoring system that can safely stop the vehicle, turn on the hazard lights, and activate the electronic parking brake once it has stopped.
Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay come standard on all 2025 Hyundai Tucsons. They are displayed on the 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen and the 12-inch color head-up display (HUD). When paired with onboard navigation systems, the HUD shows your speed, the speed limit, and turn-by-turn directions.
Hyundai equips the Tucson with a fingerprint authentication sensor, which allows the driver to start the vehicle without an intelligent key, providing owners with increased convenience and security.
With SUVs still growing in popularity, the 2025 Hyundai Tucson competes with the Chevrolet Equinox, Honda CR-V, Nissan Rogue, Subaru Outback, Toyota RAV4, and Volkswagen Tiguan.
The Tucson has its work cut out in the uber-competitive compact SUV segment. That said, the enhancements for 2025, coupled with its strong 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty, should keep it competitive.
