You won't have to pay over six figures for a low-slung, four-door electric Audi sedan anymore as the 2025 Audi A6 E-tron is expected to start under $80,000 when it goes on sale next year. The new A6 E-tron and higher-performance S6 E-tron, which could start under $100,000, will be the second set of Audi models built on the company's new Premium Platform Electric (PPE) platform co-developed with Porsche.

Audi will only offer the all-new A6 E-tron and S6 E-tron as Sportback body styles stateside. A station wagon Avant model will be available in Europe. One battery size is available, and it should offer around 350 miles of range, though the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has yet to announce official estimates. Single- and dual-motor setups provide either rear- (RWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD), depending on the model.

Following the design of Audi's other electric models, the A6 E-tron is a Sportback in Audi-speak, meaning there's a sharp roofline with a hatch out back. Audi says the design and aerodynamics help the A6 E-tron be the slickest EV in the group's lineup, and a set of 21-inch wheels with aero covers help it be even more efficient through the air. A set of air springs is optional and can lower the A6 E-tron's ride height for improved aerodynamic efficiency.
It has to be one of the best-looking EVs in Audi's lineup after the more powerful and expensive E-tron GT, which shares a platform with the Porsche Taycan. Buyers can configure a new OLED taillight to change the car’s rear appearance, and the S6 E-tron looks even better with 20-inch wheels (a set of 21-inch wheels is available).
Audi will offer the new E-tron models in eight exterior colors, including Daytona Gray Pearl and Siam Beige Metallic, which the automaker reserves for the A6 E-tron S line and S6 E-tron.

The A6 E-tron’s cabin also looks like one of Audi's best, and the dashboard seems to wrap around the A-pillars and into the door side panels. A trio of screens exudes a welcoming three-dimensional appeal to both the driver and passenger. Yes, the passenger even gets their own screen, which is a rising industry trend.
A smart glass panoramic roof with four different modes is available. A Bang & Olufsen premium sound system with 20 speakers—including in the front headrests—is also available.

Audi's 800-volt PPE electric platform uses a 100-kilowatt-hour (kWh) battery pack that allows charging speeds up to 270 kW when connected to a DC fast charger. According to Audi, it can charge the battery from 10 to 80 percent in 21 minutes. Audi says the EPA will announce range estimates for all A6 E-tron models closer to next year.
In the base A6 E-tron with RWD, the battery sends juice to a single electric motor, producing 362 hp; Audi says it should hit 60 mph in 5.2 seconds. Adding an electric motor up front on the AWD A6 E-tron Quattro increases power to 422 horses and helps it jump off the line for a 4.3-second rip to 60 mph. The dual-motor S6 E-tron ups the ante to 543 hp and has a zero-to-60-mph time of 3.7 seconds when using launch control.

Audi's new infotainment system runs Android-based software that will eventually have built-in ChatGPT artificial intelligence. It displays on a 14.5-inch touchscreen and an 11.9-inch driver's display. You can override it with standard Apple CarPlay or Android Auto if you don't want to use it. The second generation of Audi's augmented reality on the head-up display shows things like speed, traffic signs, and directional arrows on a large, tilted image plane.
Audi offers many advanced driver assistance systems, including adaptive cruise control as a standard option, while lane-keeping assistance is available as an add-on. Audi hides the driver-assist system's sensors within the dark trim on the front fascia, so you can barely notice them.
The new Audi A6 E-tron and S6 E-tron are shaping up to be some of the most impressive Audi EVs yet. They will be significantly more affordable than the Genesis Electrified G80, Lucid Air, and Porsche Taycan. Expect their prices to be similar to the new BMW i5—the electric version of the renowned 5 Series sedan—but they should provide greater range and better charging performance.
