BMW unveiled the latest addition to the brand’s fully-electric i4 range, the all-new BMW i4 eDrive35.
Driven by the same Gen5 eDrive powertrain technology in the BMW iX and the other i4 models, the BMW i4 eDrive35 is constructed with a single electrically-excited synchronous motor fed by high-voltage batteries. The motor produces a solid 281 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque (preliminary figures), with an estimated 0-60 mph time of just 5.8 seconds.
The i4 eDrive35 is expected to deliver an EPA range of about 260 miles according to preliminary tests (when fitted with the standard 18-inch aero wheels). Additionally, BMW stated in its press release that by utilizing DC fast charging, the batteries can be charged at a rate of up to 180 kW, and owners can expect to have the ability to charge the HV battery from 10% to 80% in only 32 minutes.
Powered by BMW Operating System 8, drivers are welcomed in the interior by the appealing BMW Curved Display. This control surface features a 12.3-inch information display with a 14.9-inch control display behind a single, seamless glass surface. But the eDrive 35 isn’t all looks, as it will maintain all the same standard and optional features and equipment available on the 2023 i4 eDrive40. The eDrive35 will also benefit from an array of available Connected Drive digital services, including over-the-air updates.
Production of the 2023 BMW i4 eDrive35 will begin in the fourth quarter of 2022. With U.S. deliveries set to start in the first quarter of 2023, the BMW i4 eDrive35 makes purely electric BMW performance more attainable than ever, with a starting base price of $51,400 (plus $995 destination and handling).
Part of BMW’s Neue Klasse (new class) rollout of redesigned models, the 2027 BMW 3 Series is all-new and goes on sale in the first quarter of 2027.
