What's New for the 2025 Tesla Models?

Jack R. Nerad | Jan 20, 2025

Tesla Motors continues to defy automotive norms, and the norm that it scoffs at routinely is the tradition of annual model-year updates. Instead, electric vehicle (EV) maker introduces changes on their own schedule, making it challenging to pinpoint when updates appear on U.S. vehicles. Tesla's approach ensures innovation remains at the forefront while confounding those used to yearly changes.

The biggest news for 2025 is the long-awaited arrival of the Tesla Cybertruck, which has become a hot seller in its first several months on the market. Beyond that key launch, one or more of its core models will likely receive a significant facelift. Should that happen after January 1, 2025, as it increasingly seems likely, Tesla may tag it as a 2026 model.

Changes to the individual 2025 Tesla models are listed below alphabetically.

Having first come to market more than a decade ago, the Tesla Model S sport sedan continues to undergo running changes. For 2025, Tesla offers the Model X luxury SUV in two trims: All-Wheel Drive and Plaid. According to Tesla, the three-motor version offers 1,020 horsepower and a staggering 2.5-second zero-to-60-mph time.

2025 Model Y Changes - Find the best Tesla Model Y deals!

Rumors continue to swirl about a serious facelift for the Tesla Model Y, the brand’s highest-volume model. A solid confirmation has not yet materialized, and at this late stage in 2024, should a facelift come, Tesla will probably label it a 2026 model.

Exterior changes will likely include an all-new light signature and revised front and rear fascias. Inside, the seats will get new looks and functionality, including ventilation. Other likely changes include a refreshed center display and a new rear console screen for back-seat passengers. Tesla could replace the traditional steering wheel control stalks with more streamlined controls for gear selection and turn signals. The automaker will also update the dashboard with a sleek fabric finish.
