The Volkswagen Digital Cockpit is an innovative feature that replaces the traditional dashboard with a customizable high-resolution display and digital gauges. It puts essential information and real-time updates in the driver’s line of sight. Having become a popular feature across much of Volkswagen’s model line, the automaker has introduced an enhanced version called Digital Cockpit Pro. The more robust “Pro” version features a larger 10.25-inch display, three viewing options, and substantially greater customization opportunities.
When first introduced, the Volkswagen Digital Cockpit included an 8-inch display with two viewing options and the ability to customize the information shown. Digital Cockpit Pro enhances the driving experience with a larger 10.25-inch, thin-film transistor display with 1440 x 540-pixel resolution. As with the original Digital Cockpit, VW positions the Digital Cockpit Pro’s display ahead of the steering wheel, so the driver can easily read the screen. It allows the driver to access the following features:

By way of the steering wheel, the driver can view and operate several systems, including navigation. And with Bluetooth connected, the steering wheel allows the driver to use the phone menu and gives options to make and receive calls.
Digital Cockpit Pro offers different views depending on driver preference, including the traditional dual-gauge look, a sleeker digital style aesthetic, and a full-screen view.
To access the different customizations for the digital cockpit, the driver must choose the ‘Car’ menu on the home screen. The next step is to select ‘Digital Cockpit’ to access the various presets. This can include any combination of display elements such as the compass, elevation, fuel range, audio stations, road signs, route guidance, fuel economy, travel time, or driver-assistance systems. Regardless of what screen the driver selects, they can also choose which items will permanently appear on the left and right side of the display so that the most essential information to the driver is always available while driving.
As an extra customization bonus, the driver can change the overall aesthetic of the vehicle cabin through interior lighting. By selecting ‘ambient lighting’ in the vehicle setting panel, the driver can choose from an array of hues that will illuminate the front console, door panels, and footwells and brighten the accent/background colors within the digital cockpit. There are no less than 30 colors available. Volkswagen provides several pre-configured “mood” lighting profiles for those who prefer less decision-making in their customization efforts.
Beyond customization, if the driver plans to share their vehicle with a friend or family member, they and the other driver can each save their specific settings. This includes cabin temperature, seating positions, and side-mirror positions.
Available across the Volkswagen model lineup, VW Digital Cockpit Pro replaces the traditional dash with a customizable high-resolution display positioned directly in front of the driver, resulting in a more organic and enjoyable driving experience.
