Cadillac Velocity Max is a driver-selectable performance feature designed for high-performance Cadillac electric vehicles (EVs). It aims to deliver brief bursts of extreme acceleration by temporarily unleashing more horsepower and torque than the vehicle's standard output. This feature turns everyday driving into an exciting performance experience in EV models such as the Cadillac Lyriq-V, Optiq-V, Vistiq, Escalade IQ, and Escalade IQL.

At its core, Cadillac Velocity Max boosts the energy draw from the EV's battery and electric drive units. This increased power delivery allows for faster acceleration and more responsive performance when the driver needs it most.
The system is designed to deliver short, powerful bursts of energy instead of continuous output. It is ideal for merging onto the highway, for performance driving, or for moments when drivers want to experience the full power of their electric Cadillac.
For example, in the 2026 Lyriq-V, the Velocity Max feature unlocks approximately 615 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque, allowing a zero-to-60-mph time as low as 3.3 seconds when combined with launch control. For the Escalade IQ, Velocity Max offers 750 hp and 785 pound-feet of torque, with a zero-to-60-mph time of 4.7 seconds.
Cadillac simplifies activating Velocity Max by pressing and holding the dedicated "V" button on the steering wheel. Alternatively, the driver can select the Velocity Max icon in the drive mode control app on the center display. Once activated, a "VMax" icon appears in the driver information center, confirming that the vehicle is ready for maximum acceleration.
For added excitement, Velocity Max is linked to launch control. When the vehicle is stationary and Velocity Max is activated, drivers can activate launch control by pressing the accelerator and brake simultaneously. The sequence maximizes torque delivery to ensure a smooth, balanced, high-traction launch the moment the brake is released, resulting in smooth, controlled, and incredibly quick off-the-line acceleration.
While Velocity Max offers a clear boost in performance, it uses more energy from the battery. Cadillac advises drivers to use it sparingly, as repeated activation will drain the driving range faster than normal modes. Drivers should ensure they have enough charge in the battery to reach their destination comfortably before engaging Velocity Max, especially if they use it multiple times.
Cadillac Velocity Max is an innovative performance feature that unlocks the full sporty potential of certain Cadillac EV models. For owners eager to experience the ultimate thrill from their electric Cadillac, the Velocity Max feature is one of the most exciting ways to boost performance.
