Lexus adds a significant all-new model to its lineup for 2024. The brand's executives expect the 3-row Lexus TX crossover utility to become one of its mainstay products as its Indiana-based production ramps up.
Lexus also introduces an all-new and more rugged generation of its GX midsize luxury SUV for the 2024 model year. It, too, has 3-row capabilities, but the more significant news is its more explicit off-road orientation. For the first time, it offers an Overtrail all-terrain trim.
Following is a rundown of the most significant changes for the 2024 Lexus models.
The Lexus ES luxury midsize sedan gets the availability of a New Technology package that includes Lexus Interface infotainment with a 12.3-inch touchscreen, a head-up display, and a Smart Access Card Key. A new vapor chrome wheel finish is also available on select trims for 2024.
Lexus completely remakes the GX luxury SUV for 2024. Its exterior look is significantly more rugged and purposeful, and the automaker completely redesigned its interior to reflect its luxury-off-road emphasis.
Under the hood, the first GX models to hit American roads come with a twin-turbocharged 3.4-liter V6 engine that produces 349 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque. Lexus promises to add a hybrid powertrain to the mix later in its model run.
The new GX offers the brand's latest array of advanced driver assistance systems—Lexus Safety System+ 3.0. The latest version of Lexus Interface powers the SUV's infotainment system and its 14-inch touchscreen.
For the first time, the GX offers buyers the choice of an off-road-oriented Overtrail grade with 18-inch wheels, standard 33-inch all-terrain tires, and an electronic-locking rear differential. Lexus equips all 2024 GX SUVs with standard full-time 4-wheel drive (4WD) and a Torsen limited-slip center differential with locking. The new GX can tow up to 9,096 pounds when properly equipped.
The big news on the Lexus IS for 2024 is the addition of the F Sport Design trim and the availability of the F Sport package on the IS 300. Buyers of the mid-level IS 350 can now opt for a new F Sport blackout package. The IS 500 gets a unique appearance package plus new exterior colors.
Lexus will install the Lexus Interface and a 12.3-inch touchscreen in the LC sports coupe and convertible for 2024. The addition of Lexus Safety System+ 2.5 and a surround-view camera system are also substantive changes. The LC Inspiration series gets 21-inch 5-spoke forged wheels and a Torsen limited-slip differential.
Lexus makes only minor changes to the Lexus LS luxury sedan for 2024. A wireless device charger is now standard on the LS 500 and LS 500h. A head-up display, smart key capability, and 12.3-inch information display are now standard on the LS 500.
The Lexus LX large SUV carries over from 2023 with no changes.
The Lexus NX luxury compact utility gets minor upgrades for 2024. Lexus offers new interior color schemes and adds a heated steering wheel to the Cold Area package. Also, 20-inch wheels are optional for both gas and hybrid luxury packages.
The Lexus RC luxury coupe and its performance-oriented RC F sibling offer very minor tweaks for the new model year. The RC gets a new exterior hue and the availability of 19-inch Enkei wheels on the F Sport version. The RC F adds three new exterior colors.
The most important story for the Lexus RX is the arrival of the 2024 RX 450h+ plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) to round out the lineup. With electric motors powered by a lithium-ion battery and a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine, the 2024 RX 450h+ provides satisfying acceleration and exceptional fuel efficiency. Lexus says the RX 450+ will reach 60 mph in 6.2 seconds. It predicts its PHEV system will enable the vehicle to get a combined 83 MPGe rating. The RX 450h+ has an estimated 37-mile driving range on electric power alone.
Lexus says that using the maximum 240-volt charging current, you can fully charge the Lexus RX 450h+ in approximately two-and-a-half hours with the standard 6.6-kW onboard charger. The RX 450h+ uses a full-time all-wheel-drive system. Other Lexus RX trims get very minor changes for 2024.
The most significant change to the Lexus RZ lineup for 2024 is the addition of a longer-range front-wheel-drive variant, the RZ 300e. It boasts an EPA-estimated range of up to 266 miles—a significant advantage over the RZ 450e's 220-mile range on a charge.
A 72.8-kWh lithium-ion battery powers the new 300e, and its drivetrain delivers 201 hp. The RZ 300e achieves an EPA-estimated MPGe rating of 125 combined with 18-inch wheels, and 105 with 20-inch wheels. With the optional larger wheels, the EPA-estimated range is 224 miles.
Lexus engineers equipped the RZ 300e with a subframe that replaces the rear eAxle. The new model has a suggested starting retail price of $55,150. In other changes, all 2024 RZ SUVs now have a dual-voltage charging cable compatible with 120- and 240-volt outlets. Lexus also introduces a new Copper Crest exterior color option, available in mono- and bi-tone treatments.
The 3-row Lexus TX luxury SUV is all new for the 2024 model year. It offers customers three powertrain options: a turbocharged 4-cylinder, a turbocharged 4-cylinder plus electric motors, and a V6 plus electric motors in the TX 550h+ PHEV. The mid-level hybrid powertrain consists of a turbocharged 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine plus a 64-kW electric motor integral to the drivetrain and a 76-kW electric motor on the rear axle, providing 366 hp and 406 pound-feet of torque. The available 4-wheel steer system complements the TX's smooth power delivery, giving the vehicle notable agility.
Inside, the most crucial aspect of the new TX is its three rows of seating, including a third row that can accommodate adults. You can configure the TX as a 6- or 7-passenger vehicle with captain's chairs or a bench as second-row options. Roomy and comfortable, the new SUV presents clever touches like removable cupholders. The infotainment system features the latest edition of Lexus Interface with a 14-inch display screen.
For 2024, the Lexus UX gets a power-operated rear door with a kick sensor as an option across all trims.
