Alfa Romeo kicks off their centennial with special 100th-anniversary editions of the Giulia sedan and Stelvio SUV. All versions of those two models also receive enhancements to the instrument panel, connectivity, and minor exterior changes. But the big news for the year is the introduction of the Tonale, a brand-new plug-in hybrid (PHEV) subcompact SUV from the century-old Italian brand, which hopes to offer a fully electrified lineup in the next few years.
For 2024, you can be among the one hundred customers to possess a Giulia Quadrifoglio 100th anniversary special edition with its unique badging and gold trim. Further, a Competizione trim level debuts with enhanced athletic credentials from its limited-slip differential and adaptive suspension. Alfa cancels the Lusso and Estrema trims for 2024, so the number remains at five, including the Sprint, Ti, Veloce, and Quadrifoglio.
Every 2024 Giulia benefits from an improved digital instrument panel and new head- and taillamp designs. Alfa continues to offer a choice of turbocharged inline-4 or twin-turbo V6 engines and rear-wheel-drive (RWD) or all-wheel-drive (AWD) configurations under the hood of its midsize sedan.
Alfa’s midsize SUV also boasts a 100th-anniversary special edition Quadrifoglio that jazzes up the Stelvio with distinctive badging and interior trim; the automaker will only produce 100 examples. Alfa also debuts the Competizione trim level that elevates the Stelvio with an adaptive suspension and a limited-slip differential. New headlights and taillights brighten the SUV, while an all-new digital dashboard conveys relevant information to the driver. The 2024 Stelvio continues to offer a choice between an inline-4 or V6 engine with RWD or AWD.
Alfa Romeo introduced the Tonale for the 2023 model year. It’s a subcompact crossover SUV with a plug-in hybrid powertrain. The small SUV serves as the gateway to Italian vehicle ownership. More significantly, it’s also Alfa’s first electrified car and the opening volley into Alfa’s electrified future. A turbocharged 1.3-liter engine paired with a 121-horsepower electric motor motivates the Tonale’s standard AWD system. Peak output is 285 hp. Alfa claims the Tonale can travel up to 30 miles on electric power alone and says a full charge is possible in about 2.5 hours, assuming you have a Level 2 charger.
The new Tonale comes in three trim levels: Sprint, Ti, and Veloce. While almost every luxury automaker has a tiny SUV in its portfolio, the Tonale stands out with its Italian style and athleticism.
