For 2023, Alfa Romeo introduces the Tonale compact crossover SUV, the brand’s first plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) that also serves as a repository for Alfa’s latest safety and connected technologies. The two other models in the Italian carmaker’s lineup—the Giulia sedan and Stelvio SUV—remain largely unchanged save for two new special editions.

Other changes to individual model lines are listed below in alphabetical order.
Alfa Romeo sweetens the Giulia lineup with two special-edition models to complement the existing trim levels: Sprint, Ti, Veloce, and Quadrifoglio. The new Estrema special edition builds upon the luxe Veloce trim and adds an adaptive suspension system and a limited-slip differential, beefing up its athletic potential. It also gains red stitching around the cabin. Meanwhile, the Lusso special edition enhances the Ti trim level with a 14-speaker Harman Kardon sound system and a leather-dressed dashboard and upper doors. At the same time, the seating surfaces receive a “Crema” Cannelloni-design dual-toned leather treatment.
Otherwise, there are no changes to the Giulia premium midsize sport sedan. Power comes from a 280-horsepower, turbocharged 2.0-liter inline 4-cylinder engine or a 505-hp twin-turbo V6 for the Quadrifoglio, sourced from Ferrari.
For 2023, two special-edition models elevate the bevy of Alfa Romeo Stelvio SUVs previously composed of the Sprint, Ti, Veloce, and Quadrifoglio. As with the Giulia sedan, the Estrema package improves upon the deluxe Veloce with an adaptive suspension system and a limited-slip differential for greater control around corners. It also adds red stitching around the black cabin.
The Lusso special edition brings enhanced style to the Ti trim level with a leather dashboard and upper doors. Alfa also gives it a “Crema” Cannelloni-design dual-toned leather treatment on the seating surfaces and a 14-speaker Harman Kardon sound system.
The rest of the Stelvio SUV lineup remains the same, with a 280-hp, turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder under the hood. A 505-hp, twin-turbo V6 is on tap for the Quadrifoglio.
Alfa Romeo sails into an electrified future with the introduction of the Tonale, a compact SUV that also serves as the entry point to the Italian carmaker’s offerings. Two powertrains are on tap. First is a turbo 2.0-liter 4-cylinder that makes 256 hp, teamed with a 9-speed automatic transmission. More interestingly, the Tonale debuts a PHEV powertrain that offers 272 total horsepower, 30 miles of all-electric range, and three drive modes: Dual Power/Dynamic, Natural, and Advanced Efficiency. Alfa equips both with all-wheel drive. The automaker offers a long list of infotainment and safety technology—including Uconnect5—in a suavely designed interior.
