Changes to the 2022 Infiniti Models

Jeff Youngs | Dec 07, 2021

Following a very low-key 2021, Infiniti launches an all-new QX55 compact premium crossover SUV as well as a redesigned QX60. The rest of Infiniti's 2-car, 4-SUV lineup is largely unchanged, the addition of wireless Apple CarPlay the common theme across the model range.

2022 Infiniti Q50 Changes

Initially introduced for the 2014 model year, the current-generation Infiniti Q50 midsize luxury sedan gets another year older for 2022, adding a mere handful of minor upgrades and losing a couple of trim levels. Luxe is now the entry-level trim, replacing the departed Pure; the Signature Edition also hits the cutting room floor.

With the Pure trim gone, all 2022 Infiniti Q50 sedans now come with leather seats. Other upgrades for 2022 include a newly standard Bose Performance Series audio system and wireless Apple CarPlay. Lastly, Saddle Brown leather upholstery is now available on the Sensory trim, and premium semi-aniline leather seats are available on the Red Sport 400.

2022 Infiniti Q60 Changes

Like its 4-door Q50 sibling, the 2-door Q60 gets wireless Apple CarPlay on all trims for the 2022 model year. The other changes? There are none, which either suggests there's a redesign in the not-too-distant future or, more likely, the Q60 isn't long for this world. After all, it doesn't offer a hybrid powertrain, it sits low to the ground and only has two doors, and it's not a crossover SUV.

2022 Infiniti QX50 Changes

Infiniti has yet to divulge any details on the 2022 Infiniti QX50. Still, since the SUV was redesigned for 2019 with fresh styling and a cutting-edge variable-compression turbocharged (VC-Turbo) engine, it's reasonable to expect the changes for this year to be minimal. For 2021, the QX50 gained additional safety equipment, a standard Wi-Fi hotspot, and increased availability of Infiniti's ProPilot Assist advanced driving assistance system (ADAS).

2022 Infiniti QX55 Changes

An all-new model for 2022, the Infiniti QX55 is based on the QX50 but features a sharply sloped roofline reminiscent of other new crossover SUV coupes. Inside, the new QX55 presents almost exactly like the QX50.

Powering the new QX55 is a VC-Turbo 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine mated to a continuously variable transmission (CVT) with paddle shifters. Output is 268 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque. The QX55 has standard all-wheel drive (AWD) and four different drive modes: Standard, Eco, Sport, and Personal.

The QX55 is well-equipped with regard to standard infotainment and ProPilot Assist. The Infiniti InTouch dual-display system has 8-inch upper and 7-inch lower touchscreens. Infiniti InTouch connected services are available, and every 2022 QX55 comes standard with a built-in 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot. Audiophiles will appreciate the 16-speaker Bose Performance Series audio system.

2022 Infiniti QX60 Changes

A redesigned QX60 3-row, 7-passenger midsize premium crossover SUV hits the streets for 2022. Co-developed with the also-new 2022 Nissan Pathfinder, the 2022 QX60 features fresh exterior styling, a new interior, an updated powertrain, and new ADAS technologies. Four trim levels are available: Pure, Luxe, Sensory, and Autograph. All-wheel drive is optional on all trims.

A 3.5-liter V6 engine producing 295 hp and 270 pound-feet powers the new QX60. The engine pairs with a new 9-speed automatic transmission that replaces the previous QX60's CVT. Five drive modes are standard, as is automatic engine stop/start.

All 2022 QX60s feature a 12.3-inch Infiniti InTouch display with connected services, as well as wireless Apple CarPlay and wired Android Auto compatibility. Front- and second-row seats are outfitted in leather, while a panoramic moonroof, power liftgate, and rear parking sensors are standard across the lineup.

Standard ADAS include automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, rear automatic emergency braking, blind-spot warninglane-departure warning, rear cross-traffic warning, driver attention monitoring, and automatic high-beam headlights. Additional ADAS come standard on higher trims.

2022 Infiniti QX80 Changes

The full-size Infiniti QX80 SUV is mostly carryover for 2022 but does receive a handful of technology-related updates. First and foremost, a new 12.3-inch Infiniti InTouch display sits atop the center stack. It features wireless Apple CarPlay and wired Android Auto compatibility and houses the navigation system with lane guidance and Infiniti InTouch connected services. A wireless smartphone charger is now standard, as is a Bose premium audio system and intelligent cruise control.
