Changes to the 2022 Fiat Models

Erin Riches-Wong | Dec 08, 2021

Fiat's future in the United States remains uncertain in the era of Stellantis, which includes the automakers formerly known as Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) and Peugeot (Groupe PSA). Stellantis discontinued the Fiat 124 Spider (based on the Mazda MX-5 Miata) and Fiat 500L hatchback/wagon for 2021, leaving only the 500X in Fiat's U.S. lineup.

The Fiat 500X competes in the red-hot small SUV segment. However, Fiat might soon decide not to keep shipping them from Italy, with fewer than 1,000 500X sport utilities finding homes during the first three quarters of 2021. Should that happen, you could always buy a Jeep Renegade, which shares its basic design with the 500X.

If you've ever wanted a convertible version of a small crossover SUV, the 2022 Fiat 500X Yacht Club Capri is for you. The Yacht Club Capri is a special-edition model for 2022, and it includes a partial convertible top that provides open-air motoring within the safe confines of an SUV. It's essentially an extra-large panoramic sunroof with a power-operated fabric top that skooches just aft of the 500X's rear seatbacks when fully open.

In keeping with the nautical motif, the 2022 500X Yacht Club Capri trim comes with Venenzia Blue exterior paint (with contrasting satin-finish silver mirrors) and a matching fabric top. If you don't like blue, Fiat will also sell you a 500X Yacht Club Capri model with red, gray, or black paint. Eighteen-inch wheels are standard. With the Venenzia Blue exterior color, the 500X Yacht Club Capri's leather-upholstered seats are ivory with blue piping. The dash and shifter have both woodgrain and satin-finish metallic trim.

For 2022, the Fiat 500X's Pop, Trekking, Sport, and Trekking Plus trim levels carry over unchanged. The special-edition Yacht Club Capri is equipped like the Sport. Every 2022 Fiat 500X has a 177-horsepower, turbocharged 1.3-liter 4-cylinder engine with a 9-speed automatic transmission driving all four wheels through a standard all-wheel-drive system.
