Introduction

Chevrolet says 80 million Americans are approaching the age of 30, representing 40% of potential new car buyers who wield $1 trillion in consumer purchasing power. It wants a piece of that action, has interviewed this group about what it wants in a new car, and the Chevy Code 130R Concept is one response to what's possible.

Exterior Features

The Chevy Code 130R Concept is a modern interpretation of the traditional 3-box coupe, equipped with what Chevrolet calls "heritage styling." A new red metallic hue coats the car's flared bodywork, and the compact coupe rides on 20-inch matte anodized gold wheels shod with 245/40 performance tires.

Interior Features

Four passengers can ride inside the Chevrolet Code 130R Concept, each of them enjoying mobile Wi-Fi connectivity. The Code 130R also features full smartphone integration, Chevrolet MyLink technology, heads-up information display, and plenty of storage areas.

Under the Hood

The Code 130R Concept is equipped with General Motors' eAssist mild hybrid technology. Paired with a turbocharged 1.4-liter 4-cylinder engine, a battery pack provides extra electric assistance in helping the compact car accelerate. The Code 130R Concept also features automatic stop-start technology that shuts the engine off when the car is idling at intersections or in traffic.

Chevrolet says the eAssist powertrain produces a combined 150 horsepower and 148 lb.-ft. of torque, the latter made across a chunk of the car's rev range. If produced, a 6-speed manual transmission would be standard, with a 6-speed automatic optional. Power would be delivered to the Code 130R's rear wheels, and Chevy believes this powertrain would provide 40 mpg on the highway.
