Once the purveyor of gas-guzzling land yachts that only the affluent could afford, Cadillac continues its steady transition to electric vehicles (EVs). The luxury automaker’s latest EV entry is the 2025 Cadillac Optiq—a compact crossover that the automaker is positioning as the gateway to Cadillac electric SUV ownership. The new Optiq joins Cadillac’s growing roster of EVs, which already includes the Lyriq, Escalade IQ, Celestiq, and soon, the Vistiq.

Cadillac offers the all-new 2025 Optiq small crossover in two trim levels—Luxury and Sport—utilizing the same dual-motor electric powertrain. The automaker plans to sell the five-passenger Optiq in over 10 regions worldwide.

Cadillac devotes significant marketing energy to promoting its models’ style and artistry, both inside and out. Perhaps that’s why the automaker introduced the Optiq in Paris, widely recognized as one of the world’s fashion, art, and style capitals.
Like other Cadillac crossover SUVs, the new Optiq features a sleek exterior design with sharp body creases accessorized with large 20-inch wheels and tires. Notable design elements include a fixed-glass roof with a separate, integrated moonroof, a laser-etched, black crystal grille, and rear quarter windows with a unique graphic pattern that adds style to the SUV’s exterior. Aiding aerodynamics are rear diffusers, a vented rear spoiler, and other design elements.

Cadillac spurned the use of hard plastics when designing the Optiq’s interior, opting instead to incorporate various non-traditional cabin elements, effectively creating a high-tech cabin partially using low-tech materials.
Inside, accent fabric is woven from yarn made from 100-percent recycled materials, while tulip wood and recycled newspaper comprise the SUV’s “PaperWood” veneers. Designers also leaned heavily on creative interior lighting to help set the mood inside the new Optiq.
The dashboard features an attention-grabbing panoramic 33-inch driver information/infotainment display. Extending from the front of the center console is a floating section that houses buttons and a rotary dial for the drive-mode selector and infotainment system.
Cadillac also claims the Optiq delivers class-leading rear-seat room and cargo space.

The 2025 Cadillac Optiq SUV employs Cadillac’s high-tech Ultium platform. In this application, dual electric motors—one up front and one in the back—draw upon an 85-kilowatt-hour (kWh) battery pack to provide AWD performance. Output is 300 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque. Additionally, four drive modes are available: Tour, Sport, Snow/Ice, and My Mode, the latter allowing owners to customize braking responsiveness and steering feel.
Cadillac estimates the Optiq can travel 300 miles on a single charge, thanks partly to low-rolling-resistance tires. The automaker also says a 10-minute session on a DC fast charger can add up to 79 miles of range. A dual-level charge cord allows owners to plug the SUV into either a standard three-pronged household outlet or a specialized four-pronged outlet, similar to what you’d plug a large appliance into.
Like many EVs, the new Optiq features one-pedal driving. It also has regenerative braking but with a twist. Drivers can manually activate regeneration via a pressure-sensitive paddle on the steering wheel.

Although Cadillac did not share details of the new Optiq’s entire suite of safety-related advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), the automaker did list forward-collision warning, blind-spot warning with steering assist, adaptive cruise control, and advanced active parking assistance among the SUV’s standard features. The Optiq will likely also feature many of the same ADAS available in Cadillac’s new generation of EVs.
Despite its entry-level status, the Optiq is loaded with technology, including standard Super Cruise hands-free driving (three years free with the complimentary connected services plan). Cadillac also endowed the new Optiq with advanced radar, camera, and ultrasonic sensor technology to aid driver alertness and awareness.
The Optiq’s infotainment system, viewed on a 33-inch curved 9K-resolution display screen, features Google Built-in technology, including Google Maps and Google Assistant. Audiophiles will appreciate the standard 19-speaker AKG audio system with Dolby Atmos technology.

When it launches in late 2024 at around $54,000 (including the destination charge), the new Cadillac Optiq will compete against other entry-luxury electric crossovers. Likely competitors include the Audi Q4 E-tron, Genesis Electrified GV70, Mercedes-Benz EQB, and the Tesla Model Y. Prospective buyers will also want to consider that the Optiq will likely qualify for the full $7,500 federal EV tax credit.
