Audi's smallest sedan gets minor design tweaks inside and out after being fully redesigned for the 2022 model year. The 2025 Audi A3 will also come standard with the company's Quattro all-wheel-drive (AWD) system, whereas previous A3s did not. In addition, the performance-oriented S3 gets a bit more power to round out the model-year updates.
Audi sells the A3 in two trim levels: Premium, which starts at $39,495, and Premium Plus, which starts at $42,095, including the $1,295 destination charge. The performance-oriented and more powerful S3 starts at $49,995 and gets the same two trims but adds a third—Prestige—that retails for $56,195. The Premium and Premium Plus come well-equipped with all the features you want, like adaptive cruise control and wireless charging, but the Prestige tops things off with a Bang and Olufsen sound system.
Most tweaks to the Audi A3 for the 2025 model year are noticeable up front. Like most midcycle refreshes, the updated headlights and taillights, honeycomb grille, two new wheel designs, and rear diffuser make Audi's smallest sedan look sharper and sportier than before. The S3 gets similar updates and looks more aggressive, but Audi reserves new LED headlights that can switch between four daytime running lights for the performance-oriented model.
Audi's 2025 A3 will have 17- or 18-inch wheels and four new exterior colors, including District Green and Arkona White. S3s have standard 18-inch wheels on 225/40 tires, while two different sets of 19-inch wheels are available with 235/35 tires.
The updates carry into the cabin with a new shifter, air vents, and lighting elements. A 10.25-inch digital gauge cluster is now standard on all A3 and S3 sedans, and buyers can upgrade to wireless charging. An app allows for more lighting customization on the door panels, and Audi says that owners can upgrade to a surround-view camera.
Not much has changed within the A3's powertrain, although AWD is now standard. A turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine pairs with a seven-speed automatic transmission, making 201 horsepower and slightly more torque at 236 pound-feet. Audi claims this will drop the A3's zero-to-60-mph time to 6.0 seconds. S3s get the same engine but benefit from a 127-hp increase to 328 hp and 295 pound-feet of torque.
Audi dipped into the high-performance RS 3's parts bin for the 2025 S3. A new torque-split system on the rear axle should increase handling characteristics. Audi also equips larger front brakes, a retuned steering system, and a lower suspension with adaptive dampers.
For the 2025 model year, a 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen is standard, and apps like Spotify and YouTube are available with a subscription. A larger 12.3-inch display is available as part of the Technology package. Standard safety features include forward-collision warning and lane-departure warning, while blind-spot warning and active parking assistance technology are available to add on.
Small sedans are slowly fading in the marketplace, but there are still plenty of options in the luxury class. The Audi A3 is at the less expensive end of the segment. It makes an excellent daily commuter, but if you’re looking for a more engaging driving experience, look at the BMW M240i or M2 or the Acura Integra Type S, all of which still offer a stick shift.
