Maserati is an iconic Italian brand with roots deep in motorsport and performance cars. The automaker’s offerings are as luxurious as they are powerful, and one of its longer-running models is going electric in 2024. The Maserati GranTurismo (GT) gets a redesign for the 2024 model year, which brings two new MC20 supercar-derived engines and an electric variant for the first time.

The 2024 GranTurismo comes in three trim levels: Modena, Trofeo, and Folgore. The Modena and Trofeo get twin-turbocharged V6 engines adapted from Maserati’s MC20 supercar, but the headliner is the Folgore. It gets three electric motors and head-spinning output numbers but retains the GranTurismo’s sleek grand tourer profile.

What’s New for the 2024 Maserati GranTurismo?

  • All-new, sleek redesign of high-performance 2+2 coupe
  • Two new twin-turbo V6 engines and an all-new electric powertrain are available
  • The all-electric Folgore trim makes up to 760 horsepower
  • All-wheel drive (AWD) is standard across the lineup

As its name suggests, the GranTurismo has always been a grand touring car. That means a long hood, sweeping lines, and a classic coupe shape. Maserati didn’t stray from that ethos for the new GT but made subtle adjustments to the car’s proportions and stance to give it a unique look.

Maserati says the new GranTurismo borrows elements from the MC20, with vertical front lighting elements, a three-dimensional trident logo, and a unique front-end design that incorporates the hood and front fenders. In the back, the car gets a new taillight design with a boomerang shape and full LED lighting. The GranTurismo greets its driver with a welcome and farewell lighting sequence, and an interior lighting sequence activates when the doors close.

2024 Maserati GranTurismo Interior

Maserati says high-end materials, large screens, and metal finishes define the GranTurismo’s interior. There is no gear lever. In its place, Maserati incorporated storage compartments. The car also lacks physical buttons on its center stack, opting for fully digital controls. Contrasting colors and materials define the line between the upper and lower dash.

A new steering wheel is standard, which integrates the start/stop button and controls for the infotainment system. Maserati offers two colors for the wheel that vary by trim: black for the Modena and Trofeo trims and denim for the Folgore.

Though there are bound to be some plastics and cheap materials in any vehicle, Maserati notes that everything the driver touches inside the new GranTurismo is “real material.” That means high-end leathers, natural woods, and premium metal components. Lightweight frames underpin the seats, and integrated headrests help further reduce weight. Trofeo models add perforated leather on the sides and a blue start/stop button.

Maserati opted for new powertrains all around for the 2024 GranTurismo. The Modena and Trofeo trims get a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine derived from the MC20’s powertrain. In the Modena, it produces 490 hp and 442 pound-feet of torque. The Trofeo sees 550 hp and 480 pound-feet. According to Maserati, sprinting from zero-to-62 mph (100 km/h) takes 3.9 seconds for the Modena and 3.5 seconds for the Trofeo.

The Maserati GranTurismo Folgore gets three 300-kW electric motors that combine for 760 hp and 996 pound-feet of peak torque. Maserati says those massive numbers enable a 2.7-second run from zero-to-60 mph and a top speed of 199 mph.

All 2024 GranTurismo coupes come with AWD. The Folgore includes torque vectoring for better traction and control in turns. The gas-powered versions get an 8-speed automatic transmission. All versions of the new GT feature a double-wishbone front suspension, air springs with electronic damping control, and multi-link rear suspension.

High-performance cars typically feature selectable drive modes that alter performance, behavior, and feel. The GranTurismo has four: Comfort, GT, Sport, and Corsa, plus an additional mode that cancels all electronic aids. The car’s air suspension, steering, and exhaust respond to the drive modes. The Folgore offers Max Range, GT, Sport, and Corsa drive modes.

2024 Maserati GranTurismo Safety

The new GranTurismo gets several standard advanced safety features. The list includes an active driving assistant with Level 2 autonomous-driving functionality, an automatic emergency call system, lane-keeping assistance, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, a dynamic road view system that displays a 3D image of nearby vehicles, rear emergency braking, and a virtual wall display that works with parking sensors to make maneuvering the car easier.

2024 Maserati GranTurismo Technology

All GranTurismos have a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system and an 8.8-inch touchscreen for climate and comfort settings. Maserati says it’s the “simplest and fastest digital climate control on the market” and notes that the system allows gesture, touch, and voice controls. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a head-up display, and a rearview camera mirror are also standard.

The car offers up to five different driver profiles and is capable of receiving over-the-air updates. Maserati says the GT’s Android-based infotainment system has enough computing power to rival many tablets. Additionally, the Folgore gets a range-optimizing navigation system that helps route around hills and other range-sucking road conditions.

2024 Maserati GranTurismo Competitors

The world of insanely powerful sports coupes is tiny but surprisingly competitive. On the high end of the price range, there’s Aston Martin, whose cars offer exotic style and snarling powertrains. Buyers may venture into Audi territory with the R8 or RS5, and some may even cross-shop the Lexus LC. Those with no budget limitations may consider the Ferrari 812 Superfast or McLaren 720s, which are far quicker and more expensive.
