Changes to the 2021 Jeep Wrangler Colors, Islander Edition Coming Soon

Christian Wardlaw | Sep 01, 2020

Jeep is making a handful of changes to its Wrangler lineup for the 2021 model year. Highlights include updated engine and 4-wheel-drive system availability, new technology, 80th Anniversary and Islander Edition models, and a revised color chart.

For 2021, Jeep Wrangler colors include two new hues called Hydro Blue and Snazzberry. They join eight carryover colors including Sarge Green, Hella Yella, Sting Gray, Firecracker Red, and various shades of black, white, silver, and dark gray.

The 2021 Jeep Wrangler Islander Edition returns with a beach-themed look that includes a tiki-style Islander decal on the hood, black side steps, 17-inch wheels with 32-inch tires, and an optional white hard top. The new Wrangler 80th Anniversary Edition is not quite as expressive as the Islander Edition, featuring 18-inch wheels painted Granite Crystal, available leather seats with Granite Crystal accents, a black 3-piece hardtop, and special badges.

A Select Fill Tire Alert system is available in Wranglers with a 7-inch or 8.4-inch Uconnect infotainment touchscreen, and it is also included in the optional Technology Package. Two new USB charging ports are also available.

Jeep offers a new TrailCam forward-facing camera for the 2021 Wrangler, which shows the driver what’s ahead on the trail. It requires Uconnect 8.4 and is accessible through the Off-Road Pages feature within the infotainment system. Jeep’s Off-Road Plus technology is now standard with Rubicon trim, automatically adjusting throttle responsiveness, transmission shift points, and the traction control system as is necessary.

Jeep continues to offer the 2021 Wrangler in 2-door and 4-door body styles, with a soft convertible top or a removable hardtop. Sport, Sport S, Sahara, and Rubicon trim levels remain available.

For 2021, all Wranglers are available with a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine or a 3.6-liter V-6. Only the V-6 offers a manual transmission, and with the 8-speed automatic the V-6 includes Jeep’s eTorque mild-hybrid technology. A 3.0-liter turbo-diesel V-6, known as the EcoDiesel, is optional with 4-door models.

Jeep also expands availability of its Selec-Trac full-time 4WD system to the Sport trim level. Rock-Trac full-time 4WD with 4-Lo and a 4:1 gear ratio is now offered with Rubicon trim.

The 2021 Jeep Wrangler lineup is also expected to expand to include a new plug-in hybrid variant and, potentially, a model equipped with a 6.4-liter V-8 making 450 horsepower.

Stay tuned.
